Reds

Reds have sent out their fair share of minor league journeymen all season and some of them have helped keep this team afloat and above .500 since June. Can't complain about the lineup tonight if the Reds lose after scoring 9 runs. Phillips has pitched well so far except for the jam in the 4th with 2 walks and a RBI single.

Just give up and watch something else if you're going to throw the towel in with a week to go. Those other teams would be more than 2 games ahead if they were flawless but they have had inconsistencies of their own all year too. Cincinnati plays better baseball on the road and 2020 Reds got in at the last minute. Still a team shorthanded that swept the Rangers, won series on the road vs the Dodgers, Orioles and sweeping Houston.

I'm pointing out the obvious, you just don't want to hear it and have your head stuck in the sand. No postseason team should piss a 9 run lead away with the lineup Pittsburgh has thrown out there. This team is not playing their best baseball and it's downright frustrating to get so close, have the schedule in your favor and watching it slide away in the end. I'll say it again, Reds should be taking control of their own destiny and not having to rely on other teams to fail to get in. 2 games out with a week to go, they are not going to make it playing like dog shit.

Get what you pay for, been saying this and you are watching it bite them in the ass tonight as well as throughout the 2nd half. Too many times the Reds fold in the 2nd half, why should we have thought this year was going to be any different. It's a losing mindset that trickles down from the front office. I tried to be as optimistic as I could all year but I'm not delusional about this team's capabilities either. At this point, just hope they win 3 more games to clinch a winning record and break .500 for the entire season. Embarrassing to watch Moreta pitch 2 2/3 perfect innings after the Reds trade him for that superstar shortstop Kevin Newman.

Diaz is not the same pitcher. 10-9 Pirates with nobody out in the 8th.
Fairchild giveth and Fairchild taketh away. One out at the plate.

Bell is the only manager in MLB that will not send out the same lineup in back to back games. Should let Benson stay in RF while Fraley is hurt, keep Friedl in CF and Steer in LF getting a jump start on the position he will ultimately have to move in to make it work with the logjam of infielders and the return of McLain if all goes as planned for Tuesday. Outfield defense has been a disaster the last couple of years and just doesn't get better. Fairchild makes a good throw at the plate but his fielding tonight otherwise is complete garbage. Know your athletic abilities and limitations.

.217 Martini pinch hit for Senzel with Benson on the bench. Don't try to get all the runs back you can in one swing Bell! 13-10.

13-11, CES out of the game with Benson pinch running. Difference in this game could have easily been Will Benson starting in RF tonight and not the lost Stuart Fairchild. By all means, cut Hunter Renfroe for another guy that belongs in Louisville.

Bottom of the 9th.
Votto PH for Marte. Single.
Friedl doubles into the RF corner.
Fraley PH for Fairchild. Ground out ribeye. 13-12
EDLC battling then K's. 2 outs.
India struggling badly pops out. Friedl stranded at 3rd.
Reds lose again.

Cubs and Marlins did today what teams who have postseason aspirations do, won their games for those who actually still believe this bunch is somehow going to get in during the final week.

Greene goes Tuesday in Cleveland, planned that way in the event Sunday, a week today they were to still be alive but playing like they have this series, they will be eliminated before then. So I would not be shocked to see it change and give a prospect the start.

A fine career but it's time. 😥
An All-Time Reds great career. Not his fault this organization failed to put a consistent winner and criminally wasted his prime years outside of 2010, 12-13. Fans want to blame Cincinnati for not paying players but complain about Votto are hypocrites. They did that with one of the greatest Reds to wear the uniform. Fans would have bitched if he went on to have the same career elsewhere like Toronto had the Reds moved on from him.

Sure got the impression from his first AB today the end is near.
It's easy from a business perspective to say it's time to move on, decline the option for $7 million with the youth movement taking place but it still does sting knowing that barring some unforeseen circumstance this is it for him in a Reds uniform at GABP. Highly doubt he restructures the deal or agrees to be the last man on the active roster for the $7 million or less when you are one of the greatest Reds ever, top 5 in most offensive categories. Wish he was going out on top and won a World Series during his career. He would make a great hitting coach someday so if it is something he is interested in, hope he will be back in the dugout someday. Have guys like Stephenson, McLain and Benson all raving about how his advice working with them has helped them this season. Votto deserves a better sendoff than he has gotten.

Reds are SOL without Friedl this year. Love his heart and hustle. Plays hard and has earned his spot in the lineup. Never thought the Reds would get .280, 17 HR, 63 RBIs & 26 SBs out of him.

Can the Reds please get rid of Senzel in the off season so he’s no longer even an option for Bell to run out there!!!!!
Need to take Fairchild & Martini with them. Call up Blake Dunn and sign an outfielder who will bring some power to this lineup.

CES home run 4-2 Reds. Votto a single in most likely his last AB ever in Cincinnati.

Reds end a disappointing home season, 38-43 with a 4-2 win. At least Votto gets a win in his last home game.
