Quick observation about the freshman class

I fill same way, leading Kentucky on don't fly with me. I am sure Kentucky could got a good replacement if Harris had been true where he was going with Stoops.
LOL! Have you heard of Sihiem King? 3 true freshmen are sure to play. King, GAA, Westry. Others might, but those 3 are set. King has had a huge camp. A good replacement? You seem to suggest that all high school seniors must tell every coach recruiting them where they will sign. That's a pie in the sky. If a player wants to decide early, he can. Barker, Hendrix, Hyde did. But most take their time, and Harris is just 1 of many. This absurd narrative that a teenage kid from Berea connived and conspired to screw over Stoops is very weak stuff. Do you have kids? Do you have any idea how most teenagers hesitate on an important decision? Did you get upset when Terrance Jones screwed over Lorenzo Romar and signed with Kentucky, or when Westry screwed over Auburn and signed with Kentucky? Let it go.

Please do not pine for Harris, or any other player who got away. Let's be happy with those who chose UK.

We made out great with the rb we ended up with so I wish Harris well at bama. Unless they play us. If that happens, I hope the kid doesn't gain a yard. Bama is a great school. They will always recruit the best so the kid better be ready.

If we are all that petty about a kid that decided to go to Alabama to play football, then we plain suck as human beings.

Ok...it's NOT that he choose to play football at Alabama, it's how he handled his recruitment and played games with it for his own ego stroking at the detriment of those he expressed great respect and admiration for(i.e.- Stoops, other coaches).

IF, as he himself stated, he KNEW he wanted to go to BAMA after the Auburn game visit at the end of November, the right thing to do would have been to tell the coaches of his intentions. Or at the very least, let them know which way he was seriously leaning. That way, they wouldn't be left holding the bag and scrambling for a replacement the week of signing day. If he had the respect for Stoops he potrayed you would hope he could get out of his "I'm the center of the universe and the earth spins around me thinking" and thought about someone other than himself.

Instead he moved back his early December announcement date(even though he knew it was BAMA) until after Mr Football was selected and continued to use social media to play up his interest in UK. When it was apparent at the Under Armor game that he was all about BAMA and their recruits, he took to social media again to reassure that his actions were not an indication of his pending college choice. Just so he could keep as much drama going as possible.

Sooo...none of us should be judged by the choices we make as an 18 year old thank God. But many many recruits these days pick schools early and speak to one of the reasons being they knew where they wanted to go and therefore wanted to let the other coaches who recruited and establish relationships look at other options. Clearly Harris didn't have that gene. And as a result myself and others are a bit put off by the events of his recruitment.

So you expect high school athletes to let all the coaches who are recruiting them know where they are going to college, weeks or months before their actual announcements. Are you applying this standard to all high school athletes, or just to Damien Harris? Teenagers don't make decisions like 50 year old businessmen make decisions. Kentucky has benefited from many high school players waffling or changing their minds. In earlier posts, I mentioned Chris Westry, Marcus Walker, Terrance Jones, Trey Lyles. Some others were Jason Hatcher, Marcus McWilson, Denzel Ware, Eli Brown, Derek Willis, Marcus Teague. Our fans didn't have ethical problems or pangs of conscience when any of these players became Wildcats. What bothers me most is the narrative that Damien Harris and his ego compelled him to screw over Stoops. You have no idea what discussions occurred between Stoops and Damien, but you assume the worst about the kid's motives because he didn't choose our school. No high school player is under any obligation to announce his decision until he signs on the date designated by the NCAA, and many make Harris look like Mother Teresa. We signed Sihiem King, who has been the talk of camp. It's time to let it go and move on.

My take, at hopefully, the end of this discussion is that most here agree that we got a great back in King and that KD and his family are glad to be part of the BBN, period.

Harris made his decision along with thousands of other high school seniors last year. I'm happy with those that chose to be all in with the BBN!

Nope...Harris or any other college athelete are under no obligation to announce until they sign. So you must think there is no need to try to act in an honorable way or think of anyone other than yourself. Harris was the most recruited kid from Kentucky since Couch and it was made clear to him they weren't recruiting other players at his position because he was such a priority. So pardon me if most don't lump his recruitment in with the list of others you mentioned. Neither one of us know exactly what the conversation was with Stoops and Harris. But I can logically surmise( let me highlight for you ) BASED UPON THE KIDS OWN WORDS THAT HE KNEW SINCE THE BAMA VISIT IN NOVEMBER THAT'S WHERE HE WANTED TO GO.

So why push the announcement beyond Mr Football being awarded? According to JR, UK coaches were confident up until the end and they didn't move on another running back until AFTER Harris announced. Does that sound like he had a forthright conversation with them? Hell, when word got out that the BAMA commits knew a several days before the announcement and crystal ball predictions by insiders all started moving to BAMA, Harris went out on social media to refute it just to keep the drama going.

So, yes, I can logically surmise that Ego played a major part in his actions. You choose to believe whatever you wish. He didn't murder anyone but he CLEARLY didn't show much consideration for Stoops or the home state school. Showing a bit of character and self awareness isn't reserved for the old. So you do as you please. I will not be a Harris fan at BAMA.

And I'm very very happy with King as well...
