Frankly, I am bored and not too interested in UL's problems. But to show you how small time the CJ is, they are basically not covering the Breeders Cup, or other important stories. Like a $23MM gift to UK.

But what can you expect, they never covered the World Equestrian Games properly either.

You would think they could chew gum and walk, but apparently not. I sometimes wonder if it is just they don't front page Breeders Cup because it is happening in Lexington and not Louisville. Hell, I think they covered that damn Iron Man contest more than Breeders Cup.

LOL

You are just now figuring this out?

It is astounding to me that what once was one of the country's greatest journalistic publishers under the Binghams has become a rag that isn't worth the fish it wraps...if anybody still wraps fish in newsprint. The CJ long ago, primarily when it became a Gannett property, ceded any claim to journalistic honor and esteem. They should take the Pulitzers that the CJ won when the Binghams were the publishers and have a bonfire and melt them down for smelt, because the paper is a shell of anything worthy of being called a "newspaper" any more.

Back in the 50s-70s the Courier-Journal was one of the top 5-6 newspapers in the country. (along with the NY Times, Christian Science Monitor, Chicago Tribune, Wall St. Journal, and Los Angeles Times). The Courier may have been excellent in the 40s, but I wasn't exactly a reader back then. Their decline preceded the current general irrelevance of all newspapers.

It's interesting you cite the NYTimes and the Trib who continue to this day to break REAL news and uncover REAL corruption and do REAL work for the people.

No, quite the contrary, newspapers still carry a great weight to "comfort the afflicted, and afflict the comfortable" it's just that our newspaper, the Courier Journal, doesn't do that any more and is so far from doing it that it cannot get that noble pursuit back.
