I’m sorry but this has been what it’s been under Cal for awhile now. Needing one guy and for whatever reason, we never get him. For an ace recruiter, how do we always have roster holes?
Yeah, but this kills one of the grounds upon which we likely argued he deserved a waiver. The claim was that his situation was fundamentally unfair because he was deprived of a fair chance to enter the NBA draft, since Wake Forest waited until the deadline passed to fire Manning.
Well, this kills that argument. He now still has that chance.
Why are you guys already assuming he goes to the NBA? How bout we worry about that if it happens.
No loophole means no waiver I'm afraid. I think it is unlikely he ever plays here.

I'm totally confused here? How does anything with the draft have to do with his waiver? No way he was gonna get denied his waiver, we have dudes transfering from here over homesickness getting waivers lol. What the hell is everyone talking about? He had a coaching change, that is way more of a case for a waiver than playing time or homesickness
Hate it but it does us no good to stress it, if he goes he goes and we have to find someone else. There are a few guys hanging around that haven't decided yet so maybe Cal can get something going there

2. The biggest argument on the appeal was probably he would have entered the draft, after they fired Manning, but they did it so late he didn’t have time.
3. Players in the past rarely (if ever) get immediate eligibility at another school due to a coaching change.

Well it happens all the time and it is fact. So whether you believe it or not, it Is the truth. Not saying the rules due to the pandemic won’t alter the way things were done in the past, but yes historically speaking, homesickness was a reason kids could transfer. Coaching changes were not.

Is there any other good reason for them to push a draft deadline to freakin August? They should have already done the draft for Christ sakes. The entire world has lost its mind
Does he want to play in the G League now. Or play a year at UK with a lot more exposure and have a chance of being drafted next year?
Decision date makes it to late pick up a replacement if Saar enters the draft.

not that I know anything but given the Corona and the coaching change, I think an argument could easily be made that regardless of when the draft is, we are living in extraordinary times that prevented Sarr from having the usual avenues on which decision making for the NBA or college are provided. He didn't have the same opportunities as a player from the previous year and has been impacted by that.

Sarr hasn't been preparing for the draft. Just because the deadline to declare changed--he could have had an agent for 2 months. He could have had professional trainers. He could have been meeting with scouts/teams whatever.
Instead he doesn't have an agent. The agent hasn't put him in a spot to succeed in terms of being drafted.

One problem with this argument: the draft isn't until October 16th. That still leaves an awful lot of time for him to hire an agent and prepare.
Is "four months isn't enough lead time" really a viable argument?
I recently read an article saying UK should pursue Yor Anei. I think that was very astute.
I find I'm a lot happier when I have no expectations of any specific player being here. And after Whitney, even staying a year. If they show up and play, I'll cheer. If not, on to the next one.

If they are going to give a second chance to enter, there should be another opportunity to withdraw and return to school. Come on back, Nick!

NCAA picked up the phone and demanded the NBA allow for a “second wave” of draft entrees!

The draft got moved forward from June to October, so I'm guessin they just logically concluded that the rest of the draft process timeline should be moved forward as well.
