Potentially bad news for Sarr

It shouldn’t matter, but we saw what they did to Kanter. So I will not be surprised if he’s ineligible.

Good to know Cisse and Makur are both still available if that’s how it’s going to be.
I'd like to see Cal go all in on both of those kids, w/ a "first to commit" offer for both. Even if things go our way w/ Sarr, which I'm finding more doubtful w/ this new draft development, he'll need a back-up. We could take one of the two freshmen even w/ OS in the fold, and worst case scenario, we end up w/out Sarr, but still have a stud at the 5...just starting and getting all the minutes he can handle instead of splitting time and, more than likely, coming off the bench.

This news amps up the need for one of those remaining bigs to choose college/UK.

What really sucks is Sarr still waiting on a decision. I’m not sure exactly when his request was sent in but it would’ve been nice to already have the ruling before this change happened. Just seems like it always takes forever to get a decision on these things for UK football & basketball. Again, idk when his waiver was filed so it could very well be a reasonable time span. But, I see a lot of other schools get decisions within a cpl weeks & UK has never gotten a decision anywhere close to that soon, that I can remember at least.

If the NCAA actually cared about the kids and not just the money, they would prioritize these decisions so their student athletes could plan for their future and not just wait in limbo. Another example of how the NCAA is a complete sham and rudderless ship.

Why are so many bitching about the NCAA in this thread?

Once again, the NCAA had nothing whatsoever to do with this ....and I'm pretty sure it did NOT want this to happen (since it likely means losing more players to the pros and even more instability in the college sport).

Instead, this was solely an NBA decision. Take it up with them.

That kinda screws the coaches losing players this late in the off season so good luck finding replacements for the players that bolt.

Right. Which is why the NCAA, who presumably care about what’s good for the NCAA, shouldn’t be using a new NBA rule as basis for any decisions.

If Sarr decides to bolt on his own, that’s another story.

Why do people here keep trying to pin this on the NCAA?

But, the NCAA could’ve possibly made a decision by now on Sarr & this change would be irrelevant to his case. My complaint is that it seemingly takes them forever to decide on UK football & basketball cases & if they had acted in a timely manner then Sarr would already be cleared. He announced the transfer a long time ago. But, I admit that idk when UK filed the waiver so it very well could be that they drug their feet on it & the NCAA really hasn’t had time to review it yet. But, a lot of other cases seem to be handled much quicker. If the waiver was sent soon after the announcement then they should’ve had plenty of time to make a ruling.

For the people that can’t seem to comprehend why this is bad news there are really 2 parts. The main argument for why he transferred was that he didn’t get the chance to enter the draft after his coach had convinced him to stay and then was fired. Well here’s your chance. The other I feel less likely but that he could go to the Draft.

Are we sure EJ and Nick can't come back? I think this is the death knell for their drafy hopes this year. Even if they signed with an agent, under certain circumstances, can't they still withdraw from draft and apply or appeal for eligibility?
So now that the NBA has reopened the draft, it would be unfair not to allow anyone who remains and goes undrafted to return to college ball. They keep moving the goal posts.

Only bad news if you make it bad news. The original request for a waiver was based on circumstances at the time the waiver was submitted. The NCAA will make the decision based on the circumstances at that time. He will receive a waiver. No need to get your panties in a wad.

I’m sorry but this has been what it’s been under Cal for awhile now. Needing one guy and for whatever reason, we never get him. For an ace recruiter, how do we always have roster holes?

Congrats. You've played this game for quite a while now and for some reason you stay under the troll radar. Well done......

I'm talking about why the NCAA takes so long to review the waivers. Does it really take weeks to come to a decision? I don't care about how it affects fans, but it's not cool to do that the student athletes and their families trying to plain their futures.

Yeah, we never have a top five recruiting class. Wait...

You did good dredging up the CLOD likes though.

Why are you guys already assuming he goes to the NBA? How bout we worry about that if it happens.
LOL.. no people are assuming the NCAA will rule him ineligible for this upcoming season because one of his reasons is now diminished.

but I dont think that at all.............. He's already given his commitment and signed with UK.......... I think the NCAA will rule based on the circumstances at the time of Sarr leaving Wake and not events that just now transpired.

I mean if they're going to do this because of COVID then they should also let kids return who already entered with an agent. I mean is this draft going to even happen before Fall. It's ridiculous. They aren't making it easy for college coaches trying to put together a roster. It was tough enough already with the G League money and regular NBA draft.

Could this open the door for the NCAA to allow draft entrants to change their minds and come back without penalty? Seems like a reasonable ask since there’s now likely to be even more people enter.

another thought, is the NBA doing this because of the possibility that there won’t be a college basketball season next year and this allows kids with NBA potential to play in the g-league or over seas? Allows them to make a little bit of money and keep playing against high level competition.

Good Job NBA and NCAA. We already are pulling so many kids out of college that won't get drafted, can't travel because of COVID 19, and won't have jobs next year, so what do we do??? Let's get some more

Also. Dont you think UK saw something like this coming. , IMO Sarr's waiver is not even 30 percent based on basketball

i think some of you guys are over-thinking this.

The reason the NBA is doing this seems quite simple and logical to me. The draft was moved from June to October, so it only makes sense that they'd also move the rest of the draft process forward to accommodate that. I mean, there's no need or reason to keep the same declaration deadline if the draft's not gonna happen until October, right?

He came out of nowhere yesterday and asked me if I had a hot wife that he could smash. I asked her what she thought about that and she said he was clearly some loser that couldn't get a hottie on his own. lol

[roll]

she has to be a saint to put up with your constant need to argue and belittle anyone with a differing opinion.
