Potentially bad news for Sarr

[eyeroll]
I’m sorry but this has been what it’s been under Cal for awhile now. Needing one guy and for whatever reason, we never get him. For an ace recruiter, how do we always have roster holes?

nothing to be sorry for. Totally reasonable take. Unlike all other teams, their rosters are filled out a year in advance and that’s why we always fall behind all of them. Just look at Cal’s record – speaks for itself. Just disastrous.

Just wish we could get our roster built up so strong in quality and numbers of players where we always have plenty of really good players coming back every year to go with the three or four top freshmen coming in so the NCAA, refs and other teams can do nothing about stopping us. We are the one program that could do that, just a matter of building the roster as strong as possible 1-13. Maybe Cal is starting to do that with the transfers like Toppin, Mintz and Saar. Just need that super depth at all positions and always have some solid experience to go with it.

Right! LMAO.

And when in our history under any coach has that ever been true? Never?

Gotta admit, I was worried at first but the more I thought about it, I’m pretty sure IF his waiver gets granted, he won’t go back into the draft. He is in a better situation now than he was when he decided to come back to Wake.

And I think he gets his waiver too. I know the committee SEEMS to screw Cal any chance they get, but they know that if Sarr isn’t approved, he’s gone. They know the problem with too many kids leaving early when they shouldn’t and they have an opportunity here to either keep or push away a kid who would be one of the top 50ish players in the country. I don’t see them using their discretion to push another kid away.

It’s hard to guess what the NCAA will do, but I’m still hopeful that with the freedom in which they’ve been granting waivers with flimsy arguments, that Sarr will get the same treatment. His coach left and he wanted to play in college rather than go pro. That’s a very valid reason for granting a waiver IMO. Furthermore, while I haven’t read the waiver request, I imagine there was other rationale to support the argument beyond just the NBA deadline passing.

This may sound crazy, but I wonder if Kentucky should go and try to get SOMEONE as a replacement, even if Sarr/NCAA hasn't made the decision. This season really hinges on having a legit big man, or it might all be for nothing.

Go reach out to any remaining transfers, recruits or reclassifications.Tell them the spot is there's. And have Cal guide Sarr through the Draft/NBA process as if he was one of his own players, as a way to make it up to him. But we need to get a body, and soon... and we really can't wait around fore the NCAA just to stick it to us.

Nicely done

That's why they've kept recruiting. Just because we've not heard a lot doesn't mean work isn't being done. No guarantee it pays off, but won't be from lack of pursuing all options.

Cal will leave no stone unturned. I am sure he has a Plan B in place in case Sarr isn’t an option anymore.

Soccer has already restarted in England and Germany. Unless there is a wave two resurgence, it seems very likely they will play BB in Europe this winter.

So hypothetically speaking, all sports could be out the window if their is a second wave, which many scientists are predicting.

Sarr made his decision based on the facts at the time. This changes nothing. The NCAA has to look at what the circumstances were that caused Sarr to make his decision to transfer. That is what they will make their ruling based on.
You talkin bout the same NCAA that let UNC off the hook, and won’t even peak at the Zion situation? or, is there new NCAA?

I also believe if you transfer during this mess, you will get to play. I have not really started to stress the idea of the dude not being on our roster. This Is the year to get your transfer anywhere for any reason and get cleared. It's a good thing it won't stay like this.

Let me get this straight. You're ACTUALLY ARGUING that because Sarr may not be granted a transfer, we should go out and find another TRANSFER?

SMH...

If it's a transfer that has different stipulations? Sure, why not. If the this NBA rule change is giving the NCAA a window to railroad us, then let's get a transfer from someone who wasn't looking for the NBA at all. Or, get one who wants to come close to home. Find out what the mileage limit is on these "home" transfers and see what's available.

Further, this isn't JUST transfers.. it's any way we can get a big body for next year.

The kid from OK State should be immediately eligible.

Hopefully Cal gives (or has already given) him a call.

He is not as good, but he is decent. 8ppg, 5rpg, and 2bpg in only 22mpg isn’t bad. Good competition in the Big 12.

And would have two years of eligibility left instead of one.

Sarr should test the NBA waters. If he gets positive feedback and goes then so be it. It's his life and he should go. However, if he declares and withdraws, his case for playing in college next year is even stronger regardless of where that is.

Jamal Johnson and Lance Thomas off the top of my head. VanOver at Arkansas. It’s rare that they are immediately eligible after a coaching change.

For some strange reason a coaching change is not considered a good reason to transfer according to the NCAA. It sounds like a no-brainer, but not for the NCAA. I think they are trying to prove a point that players shouldn’t sign to play for a coach, but to attend a school, when it’s almost always the complete opposite. Just another example of the NCAA being out of touch with (or just not caring about) the student athletes it governs.
