Not sure what happened with this one. By most accounts he needed to get acclimated to college ball. Tall receiver, thought he would have a spot in the offense. He may have seen the TEs stealing targets from him.
It is supposed to be one time transfer without sitting out
If I'm not mistaken anytime you transfer you put your name in the portal. He will have to sit this time, unless he transfers close to home and has a reason like sickness in the family.
Our TE room is packed with quality, probably saw he wasn't going to get any snaps there anytime soon. I believe he is a little too slow for what Coen likes in his WRs.

I was waiting on this one. Couldn’t see the field much at MSU nor at UK and neither team had a bunch of competition at his position. Prob just not a P5 player.
If you use the 1 time instant eligible option & you transfer again you have to go through the old NCAA waiver process. Supposedly it is much more strict now. When used before, they gave it to anybody because so many kids were flooding the system.
Didn't he sit this year? Seems he might be able to treat this transfer as his freebie. Not sure about his redshirt use at MSU.
Yeah...if he's too slow for WR and going to do that hybrid TE thing...we sort of have Cummings in that role already.
I think the players who entered early are ones generally that the staff informed might be best. Those later, however, I suspect were ones the staff still saw as contributors. I think Morgan and Cummings could have both filled the hybrid role. I think Upshaw, Bates, and Dingle are probably more traditional TEs. I think Coen could work with all of them, if they can catch the ball and block.
My guess, which is purely just a guess, but if they bring in another WR I think it will likely be an established player. The roster is full of Talented youngsters.
I guess we will see though.
Lee wasn't a starter, actually played very little. I recall during his recruiting that some thought he would've been a better defensive player(Texas A&M, for instance, recruited him as a Safety). Big guy, fairly good athlete but speed's lacking.
Iirc our main connection with him was the QB that already transferred out

I think Dingle can fill the hybrid behind Cummings if he increases his speed a little
He might be better fitted for a lower level program like the group of 5 or UofL.
Good point that is possible, as far as I know he hasn't played a snap this season.

Seems like a lot of our SEC brethren are landing transfers (Arkansas seems like they have one about every other day) but we're not. Are we in the position to be picky and that's why we're not? Seems like CB (several of whom have transferred), rush LB and OT would be our most immediate needs with maybe another WR thrown in. Are we waiting on Feb signing day or do we have very specific guys in mind and just haven't landed them yet? A little concerned that we aren't filling obvious weak spots with quality transfers thus far.
Some teams are just on fire in the transfer portal (Arkansas, USC jr) but the slow down on UK's part is more to do about ALL of the major coaching jobs that came open after this season. Lots of major teams redoing their rosters and this is causing recruits to hold their position to see if they can land with these teams.
The good news, tons of players are hitting the portal, and these teams above can only take so many.

I still think UK may be very limited on available scholarships they can give out. I actually thought they might be over the 85 man limit right now. Rock78 thought someone calculated that they were at 82 or 83.
It’s been slow for a couple of weeks, but we’ve had a good start with a couple.
Can’t fill them now schools in session and can not enroll other schools with different enrollment times have advantages over UK probably will be April/May before transfers will be announcing for UK
I can't speak for what UK and CMS are going to do, but UGA and Kirby are going to wait until after spring practices are over and kids who are fighting for a position and lose hit the portal. The ones hitting it now are older kids or younger ones seeing themselves getting passed by younger guys.

Over 1250 yards rushing and over 400 yards receiving. He would be worth taking for just one year for most offenses.
I believe WR is the only portal transfer we got last year happened before Spring Practice. Maybe they see those leaving now are less talented players who know they won't be competing for a starting spot and those sticking around for Spring Practice are better competitors who are fighting for a spot, then if they don't get it, they will transfer.
