Probably nothing to it . And haven’t you heard , Arch Manning cannot wait to get to Knoxville and put on that orange jersey. At least that’s what all the Tennessee fans say . lol .

Surprisingly he doesn't like Chumlee's offense, the Mannings are very calculated in this, they want Arch in an offense that will teach him the reads needed to be successful in the NFL. He isn't a Jackson or Murray type athlete, more in the mold of his uncles who will need to read offenses and make good throws, he isn't going to beat teams with his legs.
I'm sure Ole Miss is a lure due to Manning's dad and grand dad but one would think Alabama would be high on his list given their QB success the past few years.

Arch's recruitment is a family deal, dad, granddad and uncles are all invovled, they are very aware of Arch's strengths and weaknesses. He isn't the athlete James Jackson or Tyler Murray types, he is more in the mold of his uncles but a little more mobile. They want him in an offense that doesn't require much QB running, which hurts OM, and in one that he learns pre snap reads and teaches progression, they like Monken, UGA's OC. IF today were signing day he would very likely be in UGA's class, but it's 11 months away and lots of things can happened between now and then.

When Sark left Manning going to Bama decreased and it looked like Texas would be his landing spot, then the kid from OSU transferred there and suddenly it wasn't as attractive. I don't think they know O'Brian very well, he has certainly done a good job with Young, but going by past history he may not be the OC when Arch arrives and very likely won't be there during all of Arch's college career, i think that hurt's OM too. I much rather get Manning than Williams. But on the transfer side of things, it's also looking like OM is going to grab Zack Evans, the number 1 RB in the 20 class I believe who went to TCU. Lane's offense is exciting if nothing else, and with Williams and Evans he may have just added a top 2 QB and RB in the conference.

Was hoping maybe KD would return, but maybe this means he already knows Jordan Wright is electing to return for a COVID year…

KD McDaniel to UCF
The Covid year is absurd. Players should have been given an extra redshirt year but kept it at only 4 years of participation. If they played last year then there’s no reason to have an extra year. If they say out last year then give them the extra year. It hasn’t been fair to young kids in programs.

I don't know about that, I personally can't see it happening, I am not down on Kirby, but I think his offense is 30 years out of date. But why would a QB want to transfer to UGA? Bennett is likely returning and we are feeling pretty good about Arch Manning, I just don't see Williams coming to Athens, If he does he might be our only QB

I thought it was Ole Miss/Tennessee, and then everyone else several furlongs back. The only thing for certain is, it will be an SEC team.

Just don't see TN as an option for Manning, very poor fit. Still think Alabama will be a major player.

Grumpy, have you seen Manning play? I've seen film and saw a TV game last fall in which his team lost. He's a nice player but wasn't overly impressed with him. I think he may be riding the name, we'll see.

UGA has to update its offense and Kirby is not going to get it done before Manning graduates from high school. Tennessee is not an option no where near championship level Look out for LSU, Ole Miss and Bama . Reasons include LSU home state new coach great talent around him, Ole Miss is grandpa’s and Uncle Eli school great offensive mind head coach and Bama Bryce leaves Young Mannning walks in the door

Sad thing is you would be right. But I don't think WIlliams will come to UGA. But back when he and Vandergriff were being recruited we led for Williams, Vandergriff was committed to OU, Williams was going to commit in a couple of weeks. Vandergriff took a visit to OU, saw how far it was from home, decommitted and then committed to us. Williams then went to OM. I just can't see Williams coming to Athens, I know Bennett gets made fun of and not given much credit, but he has had a good year, Stat wise Kirby held him back and he has had some talented guys to throw to, but he did make those throws, he has picked up quite a few first downs with his legs and has us 13-1 this year. I know the defense has protected him, but we could do worse at QB than Bennett. If he hits 3-4 deep throws against Bama like he did Mich he will be a NC QB. But I sadly expect the same ultra conservative gameplan we had the first time until we get behind by 2-3 scores, too late then.
Like any QB today the difference makers kill teams with big plays with their legs. Bennett is much quicker than I thought and is really dangerous scrambler and I think started figuring that out himself half way through the year.

I wouldn't bet on us getting him either, but as of today we lead, but he isn't committing today. With the change at the top if I were going to place money on where he signs it would be LSU. But one thing for certain about recruiting, no one can say for sure who is or isn't getting a kid. I would have bet Travis Hunter would have signed somewhere besides Jackson State too.

Bennett has always been a good athlete, his only drawback is he is a small guy and he could use a little stronger arm. But if he had been 6'3" with a big arm he wouldn't have been a 2* walkon for us. Players like him much better than JTD too it appears.

Mannings want no part of Arch running Kiffin's offense, QB runs the ball too much, chances are Bama will have 2, maybe 3 OC's during Arch's time there. Like I said, the Mannings aren't like other top picks, they aren't being represented by a street agent, they want consistency and want Arch to be exposed to pro style coaching. Now if Kiffin leaves OM and they bring in someone that is more to the Mannings liking things will change. He is a top prospect, of course I would like to sign him, but to really be over the top, it is going to kill the vols if he signs with UGA, since he won't even take a visit there, they keep saying anywhere but UGA.

I think the Manning team knows who leads, if anyone. Have they voiced a leader or is this the UGA Rivals group guessing?

Matt Corral ran the ball because that was a real strength. Denbrock ran Ridder at Cincy. UGA runs Bennett. Kiffin will modify his offense to the strengths of his QB, as he has in the past. I doubt Miss is out of the running.

Is Cuttcliffe still coaching Duke ? Maybe Tennessee will hire him as quarterback coach and “flip the script “ ! I’m just joking, lol .

The NCAA can't be happy with the way this NIL thing is working out. See TAMU as the direction things are headed. I don't see how this doesn't ruin football. UK in an effort to try and keep up, got businesses together to form a bigger pot of money. I didn't read how the group formed, I'm only speculating there.
Ruin it in what sense? I mean paying coaches 6, 7, 8 million a year hasn't ruined it yet. Not being smart, just don't know what you mean by ruin it

Reading the Supreme Court’s NIL decision, broadly, this is simply capitalism at work and bidding wars are a part of capitalism.
Absolutely, I believe in capitalism, it drives innovation. When talking about college athletics, it would seem to me, the closer you can get to a level playing field, the more interest that can be drawn in. NFL had to go to a salary cap, MLB had to go with a revenue sharing model. When you allow some of these win at all costs folks to have influence, see SMU, see UT for years, I just don't see how this model ends up being a good thing. TAMU has recruited well in the past, the level they are recruiting this year is insane.

Actually they have, at least a top 2, UGA and Texas. Arch played with Matt Luke our OL coach and is a good friend which doesn't hurt. But like you I would be surprised if he signs, but we are in good shape today.

Now Tennessee, Auburn and the L can legitimately pay players big bucks to go to school there. Allegedly

I don't know how UT will ever get any defensive players. I mean who would want to go there and be on the field 75% of the time because those idiots run to the line and hope to score in a couple of minutes. Not only are you worn out at the end of the game but being on the field that long means you are more prone to get injured. I just can't see that would something any good defensive player would want to do. If I am an opposing coach recruiting a kid UT is after I am sure to point that out as well.

And I hear UGA is high on his list as I dig further but what would that do to Vandagriff and 2023 No. 1
Arch Manning who wants to play as a true freshman and is leaning UGA from what I hear?

Mike Farrell agrees with you.

Mumme had the same problem.

Interesting how you are promoting socialism as a way to level the playing field to make it more equitable. You may be on to something.
Not even close to what I'm suggesting but OK. If you don't think what is going on right now will tilt the scales away from hard work, development, and coaching. Then cool. we just agree to disagree.

I wasn't criticizing you points, but each that you mentioned are socialistic. The League (government) enacting rules (salary cap, luxury tax, revenue sharing etc=redistribution of wealth to better serve the greater good) to prevent certain teams from exerting their competitive advantage to dominate. You wrote it and I didn't disagree with it. I wonder how many right leaning politcos share this view? I enjoy the irony.

Does it interest you watching an annual bill fold measuring contest? It doesn't sound like fun to me, I suspect others will lose interest as well. I look for, or at least hold out hope, the major conferences will see the direction this is headed and try to make some changes to it.

IMO, it takes the spirit of the game away. I don't promote cheating but at least with that model, you play that game at your own risk. This, to me anyway, feels like a free for all. I didn't like it the format when I first heard it, in the last few weeks I have spoken with a recruits parents, I like it even less now. We (UK) literally are out there offering to play match maker to the kind of money that got us put on probation, only difference now, we have to do that to keep up.

I'm not sure how running a sports league is analogous to government. The two entities don't have similar interests or obligations to their members. A sports league has a financial incentive to want to level playing field. If most of the fans of their teams lose interest, the league won't survive. They have an incentive to keep teams competitive. And teams have incentives for competitors to also have good teams because of fan interest. Our government has an obligation to protect individual liberty. They have no obligation to ensure everyone is competitive. The two couldn't be more different.

Michigan had 2 corners enter the portal in the last day or so. Former 4-star Andre Seldon (5-8 175) and former 3-star George Johnson III (5-11 180). Seems unlikely CMS sends out a search party for a 5-8 corner, but it would be fun to take on UM refugees if our staff sees a fit.

I’ve seen a couple of videos of Seldon, looks like quick twitch guy to me. You’re probably right on size though, Stoops seems to like taller corners

No idea, I have no idea who will be in the QB room next week. I think it's a safe bet that JTDaniels is gone, with the covid I have no idea if he used his free transfer or not, I think Carson Beck is gone. The big question is will Bennett return for a super Sr year or retire, heading to the league isn't an option. So Brock Vandergtiff and Gunner Stockton may be our only scholarshipped QB during spring. Stockton just set the GHSA TD record and missed yardage by 350 when his team lost in quarterfinals this year. Have a couple Waltons including Muschamps son. If Stetson comes back it probably helps with Manning,23 starter would be wide open. If BV or GS start he probably goes elsewhere.
