Probably nothing to it . And haven’t you heard , Arch Manning cannot wait to get to Knoxville and put on that orange jersey. At least that’s what all the Tennessee fans say . lol .
Surprisingly he doesn't like Chumlee's offense, the Mannings are very calculated in this, they want Arch in an offense that will teach him the reads needed to be successful in the NFL. He isn't a Jackson or Murray type athlete, more in the mold of his uncles who will need to read offenses and make good throws, he isn't going to beat teams with his legs.
I'm sure Ole Miss is a lure due to Manning's dad and grand dad but one would think Alabama would be high on his list given their QB success the past few years.
Arch's recruitment is a family deal, dad, granddad and uncles are all invovled, they are very aware of Arch's strengths and weaknesses. He isn't the athlete James Jackson or Tyler Murray types, he is more in the mold of his uncles but a little more mobile. They want him in an offense that doesn't require much QB running, which hurts OM, and in one that he learns pre snap reads and teaches progression, they like Monken, UGA's OC. IF today were signing day he would very likely be in UGA's class, but it's 11 months away and lots of things can happened between now and then.
When Sark left Manning going to Bama decreased and it looked like Texas would be his landing spot, then the kid from OSU transferred there and suddenly it wasn't as attractive. I don't think they know O'Brian very well, he has certainly done a good job with Young, but going by past history he may not be the OC when Arch arrives and very likely won't be there during all of Arch's college career, i think that hurt's OM too. I much rather get Manning than Williams. But on the transfer side of things, it's also looking like OM is going to grab Zack Evans, the number 1 RB in the 20 class I believe who went to TCU. Lane's offense is exciting if nothing else, and with Williams and Evans he may have just added a top 2 QB and RB in the conference.
