Sounds like a good portion of this board and the internet in general, ie people who want us to think they have the answers but allow themselves to believe anything even if it's AI-generated or a random meme that was probably created by a bored kid.

I also read your last two posts here - "ignorant", "idiot", "freakazoid", "freaks", "freaks.", and the typical mini-rant against LGBTQ. If you think you're the type of follower Christ wants, then I doubt you're bringing many into the flock, so to speak. The insults, aggression, and just typing "freak" over and over is probably not in God's plan. You do you, but folks like you seem to mutate the Word of God into something much more aggressive and hateful, while at the same time promoting yourself as morally superior to the rest of us.

I know I'm spitting into the wind though - you guys seem to just enjoy calling each other idiots so have at it I guess. Seems productive.
About as productive as arguing LGBTQ "rights", Oscar Tshiebwe's jumps shot, or Cal's inability to coach.

Back in the mid-70's, I had a friend who attended UofL Med School on a grant that required he give two years of residency back to the State. He was assigned to a ARH facility in Blackey and was often assigned to ER duty. He told me the #1 reason for ER visits there was from snakebites, many from church services. I've never forgotten him telling me that.

Snakes are threatened when you pick them up. They don't care if you believe in Jesus. To be fair I think most Christians find this silly. I assume this is illegal. I cannot see how handling poisonous snakes falls under religious freedom. This seems cruel to snakes, and I hate snakes.

I hate snakes, too, along with wasps, hornets, bees and spiders.

Sisters of Perpetual Atheism:

Someone is having a meltdown today.
I could argue dressing up in a gown and collar and presenting themselves as God's representative on earth, in order to sexually assault children is worse.
Who's really the freak?

Nah, just pointing out your hypocrisy, bub. You want to equate everyone who believes as child molesters and snake handlers but can't stand it when you meet the representatives of your own ideology. (I can introduce them to you for days, if you like)

You seem to think there are extremes on only one side. Say hello to your sisters^^ for me. Typical atheists?

I never mentioned "LGBTQ", you inferred that yourself - probably from the adults exposing themselves to children part of my post?

But you are correct, I probably shouldn't refer to parents who force sex change ideology on their children and take their little children to drag shows and parades where grownups expose their genitalia and dance seductively for little kids as "freaks" and "freakazoids".

Can you think of a kinder, gentler term for them?

Christians are too ignorant to figure out the bible is full of immoralities, and is a poor recommendation as a guideline for living life. In addition the bible is not proof of a God.

You are probably the dumbest (sorry Nightwish) person in this thread with regards to pointing anything out that the Bible says. You also have the biggest mouth in the thread, which is naturally how these things always work.

You had your legs knocked out from under you early on, but refuse to admit it, lol.

@Nightwish84 : I'm sorry I called cashtestdummy dumb.

When I think of snake handling Pentecostals I always imagine a church like in kingsmen that happens to be in Kentucky according to the movie.

Didn't realize this thread existed. I was raised Catholic, and I raised my kids Catholic. They are grown now and I think we all agree that there is some superior being. While it gives me a headache to try to think through, there has to be an answer for the beginning of time. Some one or thing had to create the dust that all collided and blew up right? That is what my simple mind thinks. I also believe that all organized religions are man made and none of them are actually correct. But whatever makes a person want to get up every day and be nice to other people is good in my view.

Why do you think there has to be a beginning? Does, “That which is always was and always will be” sound counterintuitive to you? Why?

Can you explain there not being a beginning. As humans, every thing we know has a beginning and an end. That is my point. If there was never a beginning, I, nor you, can understand that unless we just go on blind faith. Which I realize most people rely on blind faith.

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no man can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”
-ecclesiastes 3:11

Those with faith aren’t supposed to be able to understand all he has done.

“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and one's foes will be members of one's own household”
(Matthew 10:34-36).

I do know the intent behind this post but the meaning isn’t that he’s purposely turning families against each other, it’s meaning is to let believers know they will be tested by non-believers/gospel deniers which could be their own family.

That's just circular reasoning

No it’s just reasoning actually. Everything isn’t exactly literal in the Bible and that’s okay.

It’s saying it’s not going to be rainbows and butterflies being a Christian (or any religion), just as this thread shows, people will fight back against your beliefs and you need to remain steadfast. The “sword” aka the gospel is going to make enemies and the belief in it will do the same to you.

I’m not here to argue with anyone about it or convince anyone to believe, just explaining the verse is all.

Go read the Bible and you will have your answers.

I’ve read parts of it. None of it makes any sense whatsoever. It reads as if the authors just made up some stuff. I’m not going to read 1,200+ pages looking for an answer when there are folks here that likely know the answers.

Hoping someone that has bothered to read it all can answer. Who was it that witnessed a supernatural entity create the 200+ billlion galaxies, and then wrote about it.

No one obviously. The idea behind it is they were told the world. Be realistic, obviously it wasn’t eye witnessed, you’re being obtuse. Most of it was never eye witness accounts just like anything that old. There were dinosaurs right? Who witnessed them?

How can you seriously demand anybody to be realistic, when you declare unrealistic magical beliefs as truth?

We don’t have written accounts of dinosaurs. If we did I would question the accuracy. But we do have conclusive evidence that they existed. And that’s good enough.

Where is the conclusive evidence that a supernatural entity created 200 billion galaxies? All we have is a book, written by men, which makes the claim. Was it an eyewitness account? Or was it made up?

Where did wind come from? Where did pine trees come from? Why do we have a perfect order of seasons every single year? Where did human feelings come from? Why do we have emotions? Why does the earth rotate perfectly daily? How does a fully developed person grow inside a woman in the course of 9 months? Where did we get our own free will to do anything we want?

You get the picture?

Nothing can make anything....that is a fact. There was always God, and his existence, while questioned, can't be disputed in a logical manner. Why does there have to be a witness? And when he made Adam/Eve, you immediately had 2 witnesses.

You say there’s always been a god. Which one? I’ve seen estimates of over 4,000 when you count all the gods throughout the millennia, and across all cultures. Are you putting 100% faith in the one you were taught to believe in, and rejecting the other 3,999 as made-up nonsense?

Ok, you say the supposed first two humans were the first two eyewitnesses. I want to read their account of things. Where can I find that?

The answer to all of those questions can be easily found within the realm of science.

Yes, there has to be a creator. See DNA, fingerprints. Nothing random about that. I could go on.

So, yes, a creator with a master plan?

…and some people, believing this to be true, choose still to worship the entity that planned such misery. Very odd, imho.

He didn't plan misery. We did that ourselves and to each other.

Again....read the Bible.
