That said, ASYLUM claims have not been around "forever".
The right to claim ASYLUM wasn't made a law until the Refugee Act of 1980.
It is definitely being taken advantage of by immigrants that do want a fast track into the country. The law gives them automatic entry into America and a process to follow while their court cases are heard and a determination is made. That is current law.
There are also legit reasons for many claiming ASYLUM as well.
If Republicans don't like that law ....get off their ass, get rid of it and pass a new one. That's not happening though. Why is that???
Trump is using EOs to get around that law (Biden did as well his last 6 months in office---Too little, too late)----But that is actually against the law. That is why due process is such an issue with those Executive actions.
