The masks were there to alert your brain that something was not right. If something is right, you have to adjust your behavior to make it right. You adjust your behaviors because your leaders told you it was an emergency. Your leaders then made life a never ending emergency.

Except the crisis is never abated.
They couldn't have passed the bills or eo the mandates without an emergency. That mask told you we were in an emergency. Without the reminder, the sheep would have returned to normal.
Remember the initial sell? The old-timey Spanish flu pics of the populous donning bandanas and cloth masks. It never was asked if they wore them days, weeks, months or years on end. We knew that what they wore in 1918 didn't work, but they were doing something.
First we had a 30 day mandate. To get our kids back in school, if you wear this mask for 30 days, we can get through this. Then renewed for another 30, but no school. Then another, but no school. On and on until, "don't ask us, we'll tell you when it's over."
When it became obvious the masks weren't doing anything, then came the pivot. Well, might as well double up with two masks, maybe three. Then the megablues and vh found their new best friend N95. We knew how many microns the virus was. We knew how many microns the N95 would protect. It didn't matter. The megablues were doing something and were going to shame you for not doing something.
