The problem with this strategy is its long term and Americans have the attention span of about 10 seconds.
I know i keep saying it, but they really need these tax breaks NOW. Driving up some prices is only palatable if you can offset that by letting workers keep more of their money. Otherwise it just looks exactly like inflation and the truly independent voter will wonder why they ever risk being socially ostracized if it wasnt going to make a difference.

Tariffs are one reason but quality is another. The big 3 let unions run over them to the point that us auto quality pales in comparison to foreign cars. I hate it, but its true.
Of course dem presidents and cia tactics helped the unions strongarm the companies, but its still true that quality is just inferior, in many situations vastly inferior.
Thats part of the tariff equation yet to be discussed - American workers, especially unions, need to rise to the challenge of competing on quality.

I got rid of it b/c Jeep said that burning 2.5 quarts of oil between oil changes on a brand-new engine was "within the parameters of acceptable operation."
We've owned 5 Toyotas, 7 Hondas and 2 Subarus. Only 1 of those cars had me at the dealership with a higher frequency than I was comfortable with and that was Subaru's brand-new model, the 2019 Ascent. US makers have miles and miles to go to get my money again, I don't care how cheap they make them. They broke me hard.
And don't even get me started on Gov't bailouts... grrr.
