If we want to solve our workforce issues, it's not a matter of "waah, muh illegals" but a matter of turning off the other faucets that fill the buckets of the lazy.
-Turn off unemployment benefits for people that don't work at a job long enough
-Make big employers that only hire/fire people seasonally and don't bring them back pay more as a company into unemployment benefits.
-Turn off disability benefits for people that can still work from home/remote or at a desk and simply just don't want to work.
-Make some type of employment mandatory for people taking federal student loans or grants.
-Establish a minimum quota of work/ volunteer hours or wages for each year to be eligible in the future for the standard deduction.
-Restrict the ability of parents to claim their children as dependents after the age of 18, or when they fail to advance in school, or from the time they drop out of school. If they don't stay productive, no reason they should be claimed as a dependent. Can't claim pets, so why unproductive people?
Just some ideas to get the conversation flowing
