We do start of week standups and end of week standups, and manager 1on1s biweekly. That really should kind of be the norm. Where I have an issue is if it starts to get more bloated than that, like if they do half hour block time tracking..

But this isn't that. You shouldn't go more than a week without some manager knowing what you're doing. And it can/should very like be "the same stuff I've been doing, x, y and z"

But these people are all over state and federal governments. Sign into their computers and do next to nothing all day long. It's rampant at the NYS offices here in Albany. It's work well fare. People who could never really work anywhere else other than a gas station or a restaurant.. they do a job that should have been automated years ago for like 70-80k. Push some buttons, make computer go beep-boop, then dick around for 7 hours.

Fake News. There is not nearly the level of corruption and BS DOGE promised to find.
Of course there is gonna be some. You'd find that in a local mayor's office if you searched hard enough.
The promises of arrests and widespread government payments to individuals hasn't happened yet. Why is that????
Again.... Not saying there is zero corruption, but the levels you clowns are spending all this time, money, chaos and insanity on just isn't a good bang for the buck.
In fact, at the end of the day my money is on this costing more than it pays out.

reddit? LOL I already dislike you as much as Sam. Jesus H Christ. You are posting reddit shit on here like a "gotcha". Maybe look up some YoungTurks or MSNBC clips to roast us pubs.

We were litter ali predicting a recession well before the election. Just because you don't know and felt like you needed to school us.... doesn't mean squat.

Maybe read this far right article on Politico.

How many of our disease outbreaks are from illegal immigrants? Why is it OK for illegals without proper Vax status to come here and just meander around with our legal citizens? We could get rid of 80% of disease outbreaks by stopping illegal immigration, which we are now doing, and by more closely checking people who have visited foreign countries. These diseases aren't just "popping" up in America.

Why do you Democrats hate women? Please elaborate, thanks.

Dear Lord. One day the assholes that do this shit will have to stand before God and be accountable. Don’t know how they raise families and sleep at night.

You are a very stupid person.
As of December 4, 2024, the U.S. national debt was $36.17 trillion.

The total debt for the U.S. through February 21, 2025 is $36.22 trillion.

Can't wait to watch it go down every month under Trump with all his DOGE savings and tax cuts for billionaires and corporations.

We'll see who's stupid. 🤡

I got called a racist by a family member yesterday after they blamed the 'unvaccinated who now don't trust vaccines" (implying it's the fault of people who didn't go along with the COVID jab and think jabs cause autism which none of us know anyway) and I said it's because of third world migrants.

My point was showing how TB wasn't a thing anymore until tons of third world migrants and the same with measles. They said "They're from Frankfort" and I said "Yeah, maybe lives there after just traveling back from their home country) and then they said "Well what about the people in Texas?" I said probably from Mexico.

You can call me whatever you want but it's the truth. Her reasoning is that it's somehow okay for them to bring that shit in here and because some people here aren't getting their kid jabbed 27 times that they're the real problem.

I can't be the only one on here that kept a daily log of the projects I was working on and noted when specific milestones were finished towards completing those projects. I just thought that was standard practice. Part of a managers JOB, in fact the most IMPORTANT part of their job, is to meet briefly (as you said) but regularly for status updates from their team members, and it's much more professional when you can pull out your notes and give details about where the projects stands, and let them know specifically which items are "off the punch list"

If you're fumbling around, trying to recall it from memory you look like an unorganized imbecile and managers take note of that for future reference.

I can't fathom how anyone needs to be told that this is best practice.

And if there are weeks where it gets too busy to meet, then I'd drop them a concise email about progress, unsolicited. Good grief...

It's not even that difficult. Simply go to your email inbox or web history if you need a reminder of what you did for the last five days. But when you're a government employee, you routinely don't do shit so I guess it's hard to think of five productive things you did.

Granted, productivity tools have come a long way, and perhaps keeping a handwritten log is superfluous and old fashioned, but hey, I'M OLD. LOL

I guess unproductive workers are why it took me 8 months to get a copy of my birth certificate from New York, and that was after I paid EIGHTY DOLLARS to have it EXPEDITED. 🤣

President Trump is expected to sign an executive order declaring English the official language of the United States, multiple outlets reported Friday.
Why it matters: More than 350 languages are spoken in the "melting pot" of the U.S., but this is the first time the U.S. federal government has declared the country to have a single official language.

  • About 22% of people in the U.S. speak a language other than English at home, according to the Census Bureau.
  • The Wall Street Journal first reported on the order.
The big picture: The executive order reportedly states that the goal of declaring English the country's official language is to promote unity, provide a path toward civic engagement and ensure efficiency in the government.

  • The order also rescinds a Clinton administration mandate requiring federal agencies and other federally funded institutions to provide language assistance to non-English speakers, the WSJ reports, though they can still choose to provide documents and services in other languages.
State of play: Trump has made cracking down on immigration one of the cornerstone goals of his second term and has a history of denigrating non-English speaking immigrants.

  • During the 2024 presidential campaign, he repeatedly warned crowds of supporters that migrants were entering the country who spoke "truly foreign" languages and languages that "nobody ever heard of," though he did not specify which languages he was referring to.

Zoom out: While Trump's executive order marks the first time the U.S. has declared an official language, 32 states across the U.S. have designated English as their official tongue.

At one time didn't immigrants have to demonstrate basic English speaking and reading skills to become a citizen? (along with other tasks like taking a basic civics exam etc.)

I'm considering getting fluent in Spanish so I can work as a court interpreter, because based on my visit to traffic court a couple of months ago, they need more of them.

I get this. But the roll out was still a shit show. If they knew they didn't have the real stuff then why sell it? Just tell people you are releasing what they gave so far but aren't giving the rest and then go to NY and start firing people until someone hands some stuff over.
