Actually, in practice for most people, it means you care only about a) people who agree with your politics, b) minorities, c) those who identify as LGBTQ+ and push for 'their' agenda, and/or d) criminals/illegal immigrants. During an interview with Bill Maher, Fonda pushed back hard when Maher stated that CA had become Far Left. She stated she didn't think CA was Left at all. That should tell you all you need to know about her philosophy.
Hollywood and most of the individuals in that industry are so out of touch with the majority of Americans. Why anyone of any persuasion puts any weight on what they think or say is beyond me. For the most part, they are poorly educated, have grown up in a bubble of 'artistic creativity' and permissiveness and entitlement. Sick of that whole culture and what it represents.

You only get mad at those emails if you know you're not cutting it/slacking. Ive been on both ends of the spectrum. I've been the slacker who hated this because I'd look bad, but I've always been the one who loves these because I know my work load was substantial and others would look bad for slacking.
There's just too many jobs out there where people simply don't have enough work to fill a 40 hour week. In my company alone I encounter dozens of people who don't have much to do except join meetings and inject their 2 cents.
