So no, there are a majority of us who feel the same way, but like everything else in the world, it's the few who are lazy and allow their little kid access, however brief, to a loaded gun. The next thing you know they're unplugging all life support because the final test showed no brain activity.

However......it's not the gun's fault, and you will NEVER get all the guns out of the people's hands, so we must continue to preach firearm safety at all costs, but banning guns is never going to happen, nor should it.

I read somewhere from an ex traffic controller that the air around DC is the most highly watched air on earth. With air traffic controllers, airline pilots, and military pilots always on their A game when they are engaged in that area.

I think gun safety should be taught at sn early age and often, starting with bbguns and air pistols and progressing through hunting rifles and eventually shot guns. These should be taught right alongside finance & money management, home economics, civics, and logic/reasoning. Ignorance and stupidity are the biggest killers.
