I've seen the books being banned. The more extreme examples are certainly not in schools. You see where Florida is set to ban the Outsiders? Crazy greasers with their tranny ideas.

The subsequent things that you mentioned are certainly not happening in central KY where I live. I'm not going to lose my mind on boogeyman type ideas.
Again, lazy.

“Well, it isn’t affecting me, so who cares?!”

Guess what? It’s affecting way more people than you want to believe or admit. And it only takes very few instances to affect many people.

You can dismiss it as a boogeyman all you want, but it’s happening all over the country. And this is why your side will continue to lose ground. Keep doubling down on the nonsense.

I have kids in school in a conservative enclave in Kentucky. My oldest is the governor of our regions KYA. My wife is a teacher. My brother is a teacher. My mom was a teacher. Both my in-laws were teachers. I know what’s going on in the classrooms (no matter how conservative the area). I know how the landscape has changed. I know how different our teachers are today versus yesteryear.

We (majority of America) are sick of it. And we demand change. Get on board or get out of the way.

You are just promoting radicalization. I don’t think it is lazy at all the stay level headed during times of divide like today. I don’t think getting strung up about every headline is healthy or productive. Choose something to care about (for me it is poverty) and really try to educate and act in a way that helps alleviate the stress of that problem.

Ya know... if the Left hadn't killed 60 million babies over the last 50 years we'd have plenty of workers.

But they think labor is SLAVERY, which it of course WILL BE under the communism/ serfdom they espouse. You can't win with the left because they don't think about cause & effect. They are incapable of reasoning that way. They are too lazy to think about that.

They want what sounds good and is easily marketed to make them look virtuous, but when it fails can't be traced directly back to them.

The problem about DOGE is that we already have something that is supposed to reduce excessive spending, THE GAO. Why not just appoint them to this?
I see your point. However, 1) obviously, the GAO is NOT doing anything about excessive spending, 2) I suspect that many at the GAO are lifetime government employees who could care less about cutting spending, 3) I was under the impression that the GAO kept records, scored potential bills for spending, etc, but was not a watchdog organization (I may be mistaken).

Getting Elon and Vivek, one outsider and, arguably, two, to head up this initiative without any concern about being elected or, in Elon's case, about hurting themselves financially will allow them to do what is necessary rather than do as little as possible to not rock the boat. JMHO

The rest of the tweet:
So...it looks like Mexico is planning to be extra helpful on the border. . . and the Sinaloa Cartel is killing fentanyl makers just to stay off of Trump's bad side. Was that so hard?
It's not hard to understand. Folks in the Biden regime and several in Congress are in cahoots with the cartels.

I understand that cutting the DoE is an idea that has a lot of support, but the thing that I will counter that with is the role it plays special needs students. All public schools receive special education funding through the DoE. I worry that anything that disrupts that ecosystem will harm the most vulnerable populations.

And to add, I think it was the kentucky state and house has created a program that provides free lunches to all students regardless of income to title 1 schools this school year. Kudos to whoever is responsible for that.
Nope, the DoE is a massively bloated Bureaucracy that has only gotten bigger and more bloated each year while our Education system has done nothing but go from being one of the worlds best to where countries have passed us up right and left since it's inception. The vast majority of school funding comes from property taxes. very little in comparison, comes to each district by means of federal dollars from the DoE. Our Federal Tax dollars are being used to pay the salaries of 4,137 government employees making on average almost $138K per year. Can it and put it back to the States.

Reagan tried to depose of the DoE and was unsuccessful. Republicans are in control of the executive branch and legislative branch. I’m excited to see what measures they pass. I’m hopeful they focus more on policy and less on retribution and we can judge them accordingly in two years.

Huh? Wanting schools to actually get back to teaching the basics of what it's supposed to be teaching, Reading, Writing, Math, REAL science, True History and Civics, teaching kids the ins and outs of the Constitution, etc. is Radicalization? Pride Parades in school hallways, Drag Queen Story hours, Pride flags and BLM flags replacing American flags in schools, gay porn in the libraries isn't radicalization? or indoctrination?

Why don’t you volunteer at your local school? Subject standards aren’t a secret. I teach 8th grade NGSS standards that you can find on the Kentucky department of education site.

between my wife and I (second marriage for both of us) I have 3 kids of my own and 5 step kids, they range in age from 19-27. the youngest just graduated in May of this year. I have seen the differences between how I was taught back in the 70's and 80's versus how and what the kids are learning today and how schools function in general. It's a stark contrast. I don't need to volunteer anywhere to know that.

This is not confirmed, but I think this says it all. Time to fix the USM.

Better NOT be any service-connected disabilities okay'd either for the gender crap. That crap has got to stop. (They make more after they get out and sit than when they were in...)

No issues with actual VA disabilities but you can get some serious coinage for NOTHING at the VA as it is now.

If you've said, “Well, it isn’t affecting me, so who cares?!” we want you for the Democrat Party!!

Probably the best recruiting slogan for the left to round up more useful idiots.

They need to tax wealth. I know most of you conservatives are like, "cut spending", but don't actually want SS or Medicare cut. But deficit spending is a tax. And it impacts everybody negatively except the asset class.

So for me, cut spending, increase taxes on wealth, reduce taxes on income, and watch the economy boom.

I like it. Step in right direction. Should go even further in to include Internet literacy....

Chatbots were supposed to usher us into a New Age of quality information !!!!
The hype about chatbots has reached galactic proportions. Most of the fantastical tales involve some version of ChatGPT, the 800-pound gorilla of “bot writing.”

ChatGPT is the creation of OpenAI, which is backed by $13 billion in Microsoft investments and billions more from other investors. As of March 2024, ChatGPT’s website had 500 million unique users — that’s 12% of the global workforce — according to a World Bank study (abstract, PDF) . The site gets a massive 82% of the traffic of the top 40 generative bots the organization studied. For comparison, the authors say, it’s 17 times the number of visits to Google’s Gemini chatbot.

Unfortunately, bots that have been “trained” on the content of the Internet aren’t the paragons of knowledge that we’re often led to believe.

The dark underbelly of bot-generated material is revealed most clearly by an organization called NewsGuard. Founded by former Wall Street Journal publisher Gordon Crovitz and National Magazine Award–winning investigative journalist Steven Brill, here’s the real story:
  • More than 1,000 bogus “news” sites that are entirely bot-generated and unreliable — running with little or no human oversight — have been identified by NewsGuard to date.
  • The websites typically have legitimate-sounding names. Domains such as “Daily Time Update” and “iBusiness Day” present themselves as well-established news sites. But their chatbot-invented features are often just made-up articles about celebrity death hoaxes and other fabricated events.
  • The scope is international. NewsGuard has so far found untrustworthy, bot-automated “news” sites written in French, German, Chinese, Russian, Spanish, and 11 other languages.
  • More than 150 bot-written sites are spreading Russian disinformation. You might be impressed by their dignified names, like DC Weekly. But they carry fake stories, such as the one stating that Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy supposedly skimmed foreign aid to buy one of King Charles’s estates in England. In total, these English-language Russian sites have been viewed more than 37 million times, according to a NewsGuard investigation.
  • The Chinese government is in on the action, too. One Beijing-run site used chatbot-generated text to invent a false claim about a bioweapons lab. The US was said to operate one in Kazakhstan to infect camels, trying to spread disease to people in China. Hmm.
  • Popular chatbot systems readily spread misinformation. When leading chatbots were subjected to red-teaming (i.e., systematic testing), the systems would merrily repeat false claims in 80% to 98% of the cases, according to a 2023 NewsGuard study (PDF).
  • Top advertisers spend $2.6 billion per year on fraudulent chatbot sites. More than 6,500 sites were examined, and many automated rumor mills were found that display these ads, in an analysis by NewsGuard and ad-monitoring firm Comscore.
  • Chatbots are being trained mostly on low-quality “news” sites. Of the information sites that NewsGuard rates as high in quality, 67% take steps to block bots from scraping their content. By contrast, 91% of low-trust bot sites allow all Web crawlers to access them.
In the real world, chatbots can ruin people’s lives !!!
What difference does it make if chatbots are “learning” mostly by absorbing content from low-trust, chatbot-generated sites that often lack factual information?

Protect yourself from bot-written nonsense by questioning everything
Massive damage to the public’s ability to learn the truth has already occurred.

The Pew Research Center published this month a study showing that more than half (52%) of Americans say they “generally find it difficult to determine what is true and what is not when getting news” regarding the country’s 2024 elections.

Wordsmiths have invented a term to describe content that is designed to create strong negative emotions: angertainment. Wiktionary defines it as “programming, especially talk shows and talk radio, which is characterized by anger or which provokes anger in its audience,” adding that the first documented use of the word was in 2000.

A CityAM article plainly states that “outrage is the most profitable emotion.” It cites a years-old University of Pennsylvania social-media study showing that “content which evoked anger was 34 per cent more likely to be shared.” How prescient they were.

Several top video creators participate in TikTok’s so-called Pulse program. TikTok pays the influencers half of the revenue from ads that are placed next to their feeds. Each personality said there was more “rage-baiting” than ever before. One called it “a race to the bottom,” according to a Business Insider report.

How can you avoid low-quality, often-inaccurate, chatbot-generated, rage-baiting media?

Ask yourself two questions when you find yourself consuming what may be bot-made content:
  • Does the content make you feel anger toward someone or something?
  • Is the creator asking you to — just a guess here — send them money?
If your answer to both questions is “yes,” there’s a simple way to lower your blood pressure and avoid getting your pocket picked: change the channel.

They need to tax wealth. I know most of you conservatives are like, "cut spending", but don't actually want SS or Medicare cut. But deficit spending is a tax. And it impacts everybody negatively except the asset class.

True social security is not "spending" but a return of money forcibly confiscated.

Yes, remove illegals and fraud from Social Security and then you'd be doing a great thing for the country and the budget.

Medicare spending would be cut at LEAST in half if the insurance industry wasn't in the way AND driving prices higher to pay them as the middle men.

Start making food and "healthcare" healthy again and you could further drive medicare spending way down.

So many ways to eliminate waste without hurting the people that invested in this country for most of their lives.

I'm conservative, and I want SS (at least in its current form) entirely phased out and eliminated.

So 50% of American seniors rely on SS to provide at least half of their income. Half of those people basically get all of their income from SS. So 25% of seniors have ZERO economic support outside of SS. What would you replace it with and how do you keep seniors from being on the street?

I considered myself a Libertarian for about a decade. My roommate was president of the KY college Republicans chapter and I frequently went and hung out with these guys. Hell, I walked the entire distance of Irvine twice for Andy Barr giving out flyers and stickers in the Mountain Mushroom Festival. I also have an Andy Barr shirt that he personally gave me for spending an afternoon making phone calls for him in 2012.

There are liberals that get their panties in a wad for cultural war nonsense, but nobody I know really cares (that libertarian mindset live and let live). We saw Democratic ideas win bigly in very red states. Missouri raised minimum wage. Missouri passed abortion rights. Florida narily failed a measure on abortion. So I don't think the wrecking ball was as devastating as you are saying.

I will not post anything about grandmas and babies dying if the government spending truly helps alleviate the stress caused by the national debt and any other factors that contribute to stressors in people's life. I will complain if the neoliberal policies enacted enrich the top .1% while making life more difficult for everyone else. But let's wait and see before we have these conversations.

I switched parties when fiscal conservatism. I'll consider crossing sides again when this because a chief issue.
False.
