Oh lord.. having high interest rates are only good for your HYSA. It's bad for everything else.. having that interest rate in a savings account is winning a small battle but losing the war. You can't see the forest through the trees. Id much rather have a strong economy and low cost of borrowing, than a few extra bucks in my savings account every month.

I've wondered this myself. There's always going to be threat actors, but it still depends on a lot of boots on the ground.. and a lot of those people know they are being watched, don't want to risk prosecution, losing a job, etc..
The mere presence of security is often a good enough job to deter a lot of threats. And once might think that having a mere security presence at every school (like we do at malls, airports etc) would stop active shooters from even thinking about their plan.
