Sen. Ted Cruz criticized Sen. Mitch McConnell as a "one-man dictator" on "Sunday Morning Futures," just a few days after slamming the Senate leadership super PAC.

I've wondered this myself. There's always going to be threat actors, but it still depends on a lot of boots on the ground.. and a lot of those people know they are being watched, don't want to risk prosecution, losing a job, etc..
The mere presence of security is often a good enough job to deter a lot of threats. And once might think that having a mere security presence at every school (like we do at malls, airports etc) would stop active shooters from even thinking about their plan.
