I don't think most people understand just how bad price controls are. You look at history and in the 1920s the US had a recession and in 6 months we popped right out of it and started to boom again. Have something wrong with you outside those lines? Too bad. Noone is paying so they won't do the exams. Even if its pre-authorized, the insurance will later audit and cut the bill which means you have to come up with the difference.

Dont like that? Cool they will send you to collections which will put it on your credit report and ruin your ability to purchase anything even if you were never late before.

I would love to see this all get addressed. It would take years and massive amounts of political capital to fight it all.

At this point I view the public health and health insurance system like I do public education.

Sure, I’m going to pay for health insurance in case of emergency (and so Obama doesn’t fine me). But like with public schools, the traditional “public” options for healthcare are outdated, failing and predominantly run by unaccountable bureaucrats. The private and home/self serve models are much better for most things. Obviously that doesn’t cover all issues.
