Yep. People need to realize Trump's real base is essentially non-ideological. They are socially conservative and economically nationalist.

I think Bernie ended any real chance he had by abandoning his original immigration stance (immigrants drive down wages and we need to close the border to stop that) and accept the latest woke policy. If he had steered clear of the homo stuff and flip-flopped on immigration, he would be a much tougher opponent.

That said, unless Trump really ramps up deportations and truly closes the border, we're 8 or 12 more years away from Bernie being the centrist candidate for President, so get used to it I guess
American politics has been centered around social issues since the rise of the counterculture bifurcated society in the 60s. Most of the country votes for what their idea of a "good person" is, not based on a list of policies said politician supports. That's why we see such intense polarization in the electorate. Both sides see themselves as the sole occupants of the moral high ground and the other side as morally bankrupt fools being manipulated by depraved monsters bent on oppression.

HA, now I understand but Dang, they are mostly all dead if they left "before" communism (That part of the people anyway.)....
True, most are dead or at least in their 70s, but they instilled DEEP antiCastro sentiments in their family and it permeates the whole culture there. Children and grand children who never even lived in Cuba would probably enlist at the drop of a hat to take out the regime if necessary

First I ever heard of a middle class in Cuba...(I know now there seems to be a burgeoning type of "middle class" but there was no middle class until Fidel bit it..) Are they losing their hold? Or calling it that due to allowing some to go upwardly mobile in things as education/ schools? (There is a difference between education and schools.)

Their parents, grandparents, and great grandparents were middle-class before the revolution in Cuba.

A man that I know, in his seventies now, his parents found sponsors in Kansas to raise him.

His parents did not escape and his siblings were raised by others in the US.

That's sacrifice and skin in the game.

And that's why the govt framework is built for gridlock, so we dont swing from one extreme to the other. It's why Bernie, for instance, wont pass anything, as no president does.

It's hard to believe this shit is happening in our country.

This bitch is complaining that the Socialist Party isn't getting a fair shake within the Democrat Party.

Maybe someone should suggest running as socialist in the Socialist party.

Anyways, Viva la Revolucion!

Bernie is very similar to Trump in 2016. Nobody thinks he has a chance, his party wants nothing to do with him right now, he says things that others in his party do not agree with, and he has a very engaged base. I do not think Bernie can beat Trump but I am also not naive enough to think Dems won't eventually latch onto his wagon if he gets the nomination and do everything possible to beat Trump. This is the most important election of our lifetimes (just like 2016 was) and Republicans and others who want to vote for Trump better show up and vote.

Should Bernie get the nomination, I think Trump will firmly beat him if everyone comes out to vote for Trump, but thinking its a cakewalk for Trump and staying home on election day is a very bad idea.

Agree. No matter who the nom is it can't just be taken for granted.

The UFC fighter Yoel Romero was born in Cuba and he's 42. I listened to him on Joe Rogan, he hates the guy and loves America. Jorge Masvidal who's in his mid 30s another UFC fighter who's father left Cuba, he went off about how horrible Fidel was and anyone who praises him knows nothing about him.

All you gotta do is look at the parades Miami had once Fidel died. The hatred for Fidel in Cuban families most definitely have been passed down to the younger generations even if they never lived there.

There is close to 2 million Cuban Americans in Florida, any kind of public praise for Fidel is a death sentence for that state.

Not sure why these Socialists are trying to tag onto the Democrat party they don't even agree with. Why aren't they just running as straight up members of the Socialist party.

Also, the damn near billionaire capitalist I work for doesn't seem to be oppressing me. I'm getting a decent paycheck working for him.

This is why Trump and the GOP need to hit the accelerator with bringing back more and more jobs from overseas.

It's really that simple.

I mean the journalists, economists, historians, etc can all sit there and lecture everyone on the dangers of socialism, but at the end of the day, if Pedro and Bob are sitting around unemployed or underemployed, it's not going to amount to dick.

I think hammering China to change their ways and slapping them with tariffs is only a very small part of the equation.

Have to really start hammering American businesses and mega-corporations to reorientate everything back home.

At the end of the day, the biggest F up perhaps in our history was shipping out a bunch of industry to Asia and allowing that part of the world to become the manufacturing and supply chain hub of the world.

We should have built up our hemisphere. That would have solved the biggest problems we have today. Jobs and out of control immigration. Obviously, if we hadn't shipped so much of our industry overseas we wouldn't have a lot of the problems that have come from that, chief among them employment generally speaking. If Mexico, central, and South America were built up like China and Malaysia then there wouldn't be a need for so many of them to come here.

Imagine Detroit, Cleveland, St. Louis, and various cities/areas south of the border looking like Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, etc...
I like the thought but there are several factors that are outside the control of Company CEOs. Companies who compete against European, Asian, etc. companies really had no choice but to send manufacturing overseas because their competitors were doing the same thing. Take televisions for example. The USA wasn't the only companies building TVs. Sony, Samsung, LG, etc. also produced TVs. When they start making TVs in China,Taiwan, etc., to dramatically lower cost, US manufactures had to do the same or not be able to compete on price. Zenith tried to keep making american TVs but there was no way to compete. In most cases companies who moved manufacturing overseas did so because they had to in order to compete. Had they not, those jobs would be gone anyway because those companies would have gone out of business. That's the difficulty in bringing most of them back. Where we can bring back jobs is where trade agreements keep our products out or make them compete at a a disadvantage. If those trade agreements can be renegotiated to create a level playing field then those industries can grow and create jobs. I doubt we see things like TVs, etc. return to being manufactured in the USA.

Also Americans shop mainly on price. For example, you can still buy USA made blue jeans for about $65 but you can go to Walmart or Target and buy foreign made jeans for $20. Most people will buy three pairs of foreign made jeans instead of one pair of USA made jeans. Until that changes things like textiles, TVs, etc., will never be made in large quantities in the USA again.

Good move by Walmart

This is what the industry needs. Give it a year and Amazon will come out with something like this, "one free checkup and one free teeth cleaning comes with your Amazon prime account."

I think this is a great way to lower the cost on smaller stuff like this. This won't have major effects on the bigger stuff. But for your healthy people, you could get 2 teeth cleanings and 2 medical checkups a year for $110 bucks.

I'm wary of places like Walmart and Amazon stepping into the medical realm, as it gives off Metropolis vibes, but if they can make it work then I'll certainly use those services.

I’ll pay $50 for a Walmart nurse to fondle my balls in a check-up

I read awhile back that they were doing this to manage their internal health care cost. WalMart employs 1.5 million in the US.

Oh Im sure that was a major factor in this. Im not saying Walmart is doing this out of the goodness of their heart. But overall I think its a great thing, even if you never plan on using it. If this ends up being financially successful, you're going to see other big companies joining in. Which will only help lower the costs on these basic things. Even if say a more trusted company like Amazon (doesn't have the same cheap feel and quality that the name Walmart has) comes in and a basic checkup is $40 and dental is $35. That would be pretty damn good. You're also always going to have the higher quality care as an option as well.

This could be the first step to really lowering the costs on these things. Just like other procedures that have become primarily privatized like lasik or boob jobs, the prices for those procedures have dropped drastically over the last decade or so.

You better watch out - ole Levibooty has some pretty nice Costco memes in his repertoire.

I agree it will lower costs on the simple stuff, but the rest will go higher to cover overhead spread over fewer procedures.
