They all have significant character flaws in my judgement.

Not that I really judge people in that sense per se, but I'll take a billionaire playboy over what I "see" in them any day of the week.

Transparency in healthcare pricing would probably have a bigger singular impact on pricing than anything. If people realized how much they are actually being charged (not just co pay or "cash discount", but what the doctor is claiming to be worth for a check up, for instance) they would damn near riot in the streets. The idea that you would even need insurance to afford to walk into a doctor's office and have them take your blood pressure, listen to your chest, and do a few other things is so insane. It's even more insane that we've put up with it for so long.

This would also open up a whole new level of competition as well. If people can see this doctor's office charges $150 bucks just to get your blood pressure checked, but another doctor's office charges $80. You'd see people going to the one for $80 and actual legit pricing competition would take place.

Now granted I dont think this would have much effect on larger procedures. But for small checkups, I think it could have a pretty large effect.

Yep. ER visits and long term care prices can be tamed a bit through various means, but they legitimately require tons of money up front from the service provider that need to be recouped.

Your local PA or MD with a shingle out in a strip mall charging $200 to give you a flu test is an abomination.

I actually had insurance a few years ago that had no networks. I was literally given a book with a list of medical procedures and how much would be covered. I was told to call doctors and ask them how much they charge so I would know what any of my OOP costs would be. Really happy nothing happened to me for that time

I have a healthshare for my family. It's fine and about 1/4th the price of carrying them on my work insurance. The problem is the process is difficult, a lot of places won't accept it (even though it's not insurance, it's just a contractual obligation between me and the healthshare for them to pay on my behalf, but whatever), and the repayment time is very slow.

But again, it's $225/moth vs. damn near $1000.

Bloomberg is like the 85 cent Democrat version of Trump. Its just he doesn't have the cockiness and decades of cultural significance which has helped prop up an unbelievably huge ego.

I feel stuff like this is just a warmup to what Trump is going to unleash when it gets to the debates. Trump goes even harder on these people and really doesn't care about getting dirty because he just doesn't care because he is such a narcissist that he doesn't think it effects him. Because of that attitude, no matter what mud people fling at him, it ends up not effecting him haha. That is what Bloomberg is missing. He kind of says something true and against the grain, but ends up apologizing for it.

@Bill Cosby

tax returns are coming in the next few weeks per last night’s debate

Just google, he’s already gotten two extensions on his federal financial disclosure, and it’s not currently due until the end of March after a good deal of the primaries.

God democrats are such stupid shameless hypocrites.

Don't you kind of see this already with certain elective type procedures? Things like Lasik surgey, other type “enhancements”, ED issues in men, etc.?

So what? Those people made choices and sacrifices just like the single mother. What makes one worse than other?

And who put you or Ezra Klein or Bernie in charge of being the judge to that question?

Good grief.
They should build their fortune before having children.
