Govt service was never meant to be a get rich quick and an endless, multiple pension scheme. It was SERVICE and an HONOR. No one was supposed to get a lifetime pension over 4x (or 10x) higher than the poverty level for holding an office for a few years.
In the beginning only foreign workers and govt employees paid taxes, because it was a free ride at the taxpayer expense. They turned that on its head as they've perverted a whole lot else. If it can be stopped, that is excellent.

I’d prefer to dismantle the entire federal government to stop billionaires from buying politicians and influence rather than take even more money from people who earned it and send it to Washington.

It's not really normal for someone between 13 to 20 to have kids. The average age of first time parents is between 26 and 27. So your theory as to why birthrates have gone down doesn't make any sense.
