Is there some law that you wish to quote stating that a business cannot raise a price on an item by more than the published inflation rate? Seriously? This is completely a red herring. So what. If Kroger raises its price on eggs and milk....then freaking go nextdoor to Walmart to get them. That is how a free market works. Is there anything else I need to explain to you?

I deleted most of your outstanding post to focus on his farm policy. My dad is a now retired farmer, and when Carter imposed a grain embargo on the Soviet Union after their invasion of Afghanistan, it caused a major collapse in grain prices. This at a time of high inflation. It caused a lot of economic pain for farmers, our family included.
My dad never forgave Carter for that.
Oh yeah and gas went from the 30 to 75 cent range to the the $1.30- $1.40 range... Go figure how that happened... WITH rationing!...
