In my "heyday", though I was just a little guy compared to others in my area, I worked 30 people and even paid a portion of their health insurance. People came from all over the United States to our area to buy goods to take home and sell on routes to stores. They drove big trucks they bought from somebody. They stAyed in local motels both here and when on their sales routes. We bought raw goods from suppliers in the Carolina textile mills and from the steel industry among other places. We as a country started importing goods made with slave labor from China. We couldn't compete, so our industry and related jobs are gone.
This is a dumb decision and something he would've done in his first term as well. MAGA does not f'g want people like Mike Johnson.
Hopefully Trump gained access to whatever compromising information the establishment has been using to keep Johnson in line. He sucks, sucks doubly with Thune leading the Senate.
I understand wanting to avoid a political fight for Speaker before even getting started on the MAGA agenda, but think this could backfire in a major way. Johnson is an establishment cuck.

No, it's not dumb. What's President Trump going to do at this point? Completely alienate him? You have to try something and that something was easy. President Trump knows he has four years. Time is crucial. An extended fight will not allow it... If plan B is required, who knows...

Barring the Packers making a miraculous run, I'm pulling for the Bills to win one. Vikings and Lions play indoors and therefore they are undeserving of an NFL championship. In perpetuity.

H1B has a purpose but is being exploited by companies for cheaper labor. Exploiting loopholes to save money and increase bottom lines and profits = what every company does in this free market. Profit is all they care about. You think google, Facebook, etc care about who they hire other than how much they cost (assuming skills are equal)? No they don’t. They only care about money. Am I concerned about it some? Yep. As a father of a son graduating soon with a computer engineering degree, I’d like to think that degree would be useful.
Also get your panties out of a wad. Those companies “didn’t help destroy the talent pool”. And yes our schools are still pumping out qualified candidates. I realize the algorithms on X for you are always pumping out fake news stories about woke teachers but the reality is much different. Software engineers, computer science majors, etc are still graduating with the skills needed despite you thinking that every teacher in colleges across America is teaching in drag and using a rainbow colored pen to grade papers. You are the one who needs to understand what the F is actually going on before you start to tell people to mature.
The companies who use H1Bs directly caused the current lack of qualified electronic engineers in this country. They did so by not giving graduates jobs. Those graduates had to then pivot into another field. Once word got out that the grift was on people stopped studying EE in depth because they knew Punbob and Rick from India already had their jobs. Now the EE pool is empty so the companies can just say, "look, see, no one is there to hire," and then they hire all the H1Bs they want.
It is fraud, they are still doing it, and it is done on purpose to facilitate their greed.

Now let’s take that thought into other industries. Any problem regulating industries like grocery chains, fast food, etc that clearly raised prices for no reason other than corporate greed? Or is that idea too far out there? And if so, why? To me, raising prices on groceries because they could get away with it during a pandemic is pure evil and crushed a lot of families.

Nobody who can get the votes wants to be Speaker (especially a hardcore MAGA representative). Trump has less than 2 years to get his agenda done. He really has no choice but to roll with Johnson. It’s going to be very difficult to get a lot done with the current numbers the GOP has including several RHINOS. Very glad he is back in the WH but it’s going to be tough including everything Biden’s admin is currently doing to sabotage Trump’s 2nd term and all Biden’s messes Trump has to clean up.

I'd retire any time if there was a part I could play in outing the swamp creatures... Permanently until the younger generation could take over...

The only thing that the Socialist NeoLib Dems are any good at doing is trying to tarnish the right via fake hate crimes. It has become such a tired tactic because it is only the left ever does it. You see a hate crime....100%...its a hate hoax. Hopefully the GOP will pass national legislation that throws hate-hoaxers in federal prison. It is terrorism. Used to divide us.
