Didn’t see this mentioned in the article, but china’s youth unemployment is at a 20 year high. It’s rivaling the peak height from 1989.
I am cautiously optimistic that Trump and his staff will be bullish enough towards China that this added stress combined with the thing I mentioned earlier forces China to ramp down the rhetoric.

In fairness, DoD is not a business and will never be able to comply with business accounting rules. Consider purchasing an aircraft, it isn't "depreciated" over time as one example. There needs to be rules for DoD accounting. If the DoD eliminated all the DEI bullshit, then we'd be off to a good start.
I get what you're saying but it's not like we are talking about missing a few million dollars that can be written off as depreciation. They can't tell you where billions went. Like Jon said... You should be able to tell me where $1billion is spent even if it isn't stolen or wasted.
The DOD has plenty accounting rules. The issue is the expenditures do not balance with the purchases. The figures spent cannot be "married" to what was purchased.
If some examples are required, check the rules...
The standards are simple. The "paper-based" procurements do not add up. Bet you the electronic version isn't implemented as it should be..... Just postponed... Indefinitely for the areas of expenses used....
And for the record... Macron said he was going to put French troops in Ukraine... When people speculated 18k to 20k wouldn't be enough to do anything Macron proved how inept his threat was by saying he only willing to send 2000. These people aren't serious. Something not being said here, is that Russia through extension of the Wagner group have basically turned all former African French colonies against the French.
I believe the French government is more pissed about this than most of us over here understand. Lots of revenue through exports is now lost and several have began to reject the franc as their currency. Will be interesting to see what happens.
