I’m generally in your camp, but my faith in the electorate is dwindling as time progresses. The idiocracy only continues to proliferate. Combine that with Election Day shenanigans and it seems even the most outlandishly stupid outcomes are increasingly possible.

i don’t have your faith. i’m around too many dyed in the wool dems, more than a few i’ve heard say “my daddy and granddad were democrats.” my wife is nearly terminal with tds, and women with her mindset are a big cause of our predicament.
i’m old and voted dem most of my life because i never really paid attention to issues.
