Yeah, keeping our slaves for years after the Emancipation Proclamation is totally a point of pride. We were literally the last state to free our slaves. And even then only because we were federally forced to with the ratification of the 13th Amendment by three quarters of the states. Not us though, we refused to ratify that sucker. Until ‘76. 19, not 18. You just can’t help but reveal yourself huh?

You're right. I was a toddler in 1976. Slavery is clearly my fault.

But have you actually read it (edit:13th amendment)? Maybe it shouldn't have been, as written.

But that's a different argument.

You're no kentuckian sir. You're a bolshevik.

I honestly doubt you're even a UK fan.

How could you be? It's always been such a racist evil program. Would be very hypocritical of you to be a fan of that which you rail against.

So, which is it? You a uk fan, or a hypocrite? There is no gray area here, for YOU, in particular.

This is what we got from threatening our most important trade partner. A bunch of words that mean nothing.

The United States and Mexico met this week to address the shared challenges of irregular migration, to include the entry of migrants into the United States in violation of U.S. law. Given the dramatic increase in migrants moving from Central America through Mexico to the United States, both countries recognize the vital importance of rapidly resolving the humanitarian emergency and security situation. The Governments of the United States and Mexico will work together to immediately implement a durable solution.

As a result of these discussions, the United States and Mexico commit to:

Mexican Enforcement Surge

Mexico will take unprecedented steps to increase enforcement to curb irregular migration, to include the deployment of its National Guard throughout Mexico, giving priority to its southern border. Mexico is also taking decisive action to dismantle human smuggling and trafficking organizations as well as their illicit financial and transportation networks. Additionally, the United States and Mexico commit to strengthen bilateral cooperation, including information sharing and coordinated actions to better protect and secure our common border.

Migrant Protection Protocols

The United States will immediately expand the implementation of the existing Migrant Protection Protocols across its entire Southern Border. This means that those crossing the U.S. Southern Border to seek asylum will be rapidly returned to Mexico where they may await the adjudication of their asylum claims.

In response, Mexico will authorize the entrance of all of those individuals for humanitarian reasons, in compliance with its international obligations, while they await the adjudication of their asylum claims. Mexico will also offer jobs, healthcare and education according to its principles.

The United States commits to work to accelerate the adjudication of asylum claims and to conclude removal proceedings as expeditiously as possible.

Further Actions

Both parties also agree that, in the event the measures adopted do not have the expected results, they will take further actions. Therefore, the United States and Mexico will continue their discussions on the terms of additional understandings to address irregular migrant flows and asylum issues, to be completed and announced within 90 days, if necessary.

Ongoing Regional Strategy

The United States and Mexico reiterate their previous statement of December 18, 2018, that both countries recognize the strong links between promoting development and economic growth in southern Mexico and the success of promoting prosperity, good governance and security in Central America. The United States and Mexico welcome the Comprehensive Development Plan launched by the Government of Mexico in concert with the Governments of El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras to promote these goals. The United States and Mexico will lead in working with regional and international partners to build a more prosperous and secure Central America to address the underlying causes of migration, so that citizens of the region can build better lives for themselves and their families at home.

I really hope this is an indictment of prison labor and not saying abolishing slavery was wrong.

UK was actually founded at the end of the Civil War with less racist intentions than many of its contemporaries. They started admitting women in 1880 before most colleges had done so. We even broke the SEC color barrier in ‘67. They put a sweet statue of it up by Kroger Field a few years ago. Was stoked.

Other than them declaring war on us?
I'm making fun of JJ claiming Hitler and Germany were a bigger threat to the United States than Putin currently is... which of course is ludicrous since Putin has nuclear tipped hypersonic missiles while Hitler maybe could have fired a few bottle rockets off a sub at our mainland.

So @TheFrontRunner im sitting here in a bar in enemy territory for work. Gonna have to spend a lot of time in this hellhole of a city the next couple of years. Anyway, been working all day and don’t have it in me to scroll through 8 pages, I assume the whole Putin nixing the Nuclear pact has been discussed ad nauseam in here?

By enemy territory I believe you are talking about St. Louis...show some respect and say the name of the city.

We once had a bet and I lost and lived up to the bet by starting every post for a month with "The Reds are the greatest..." Which annoyed everyone including me.

You going to talk sh-t about my territory...I challenge you to a new bet. Whoever wins the season series the other one pays for a plane ticket...I want to go to Alaska I think so Cards win the season series you buy me a plane ticket to Alaska...if the Reds win the season series (good luck haha) I will fly you to Hawaii or the Bahamas...lets bet dogg!

Background: there was a 1930s-1970s detective novelist named Rex Stout. His detective was an eccentric named Nero Wolfe.

[Rex Stout's] FBI file in 1942 contained a memo that branded Stout as “a Communist fellow traveler and one of the prize exhibits of the [Martin] Dies House Committee on Un-American Activities.” When Stout met Dies, the Amarillo Globe reported, Stout told him "I hate Communists as much as you do, Martin, but there's one difference between us. I know what a Communist is and you don't."

You all don't give any indication that you know what Communism is or isn't.

He is an admitted Marxist. He self-identifies as a Communist.

Uhhh what? Eastern Kentucky is “ruled by an iron fist”? No, it’s ruled by the constitutional government whose jurisdiction it is. Just like other poor areas.
I was talking larger, but again you are fooling yourself that in poor areas of Kentucky if you dont think those with money dont rule the area. My family is from south eastern Kentucky, you know why the county where they live is still dry? Boot leggers dont want legal alcohol, so they threaten their customers to vote against it. Same three or four families in the county have all the positions in every thing in local government and school boards. The own the retail districts and get kick backs on every business. Again, you are just plain and simple a contrarian and dont live in reality of how the world works. Socialism never works because no matter how much people like you try to live in some false sense of a utopian world that could be, just simply will never happen because you cant remove human nature. Nature abhors a vacuum, and when there isnt someone in charge, shitty evil people will put themselves in charge.

You honestly think so? It isn’t. Arizona is nothing like Kentucky. Neither are like Maine. Or Florida. Or California. Kentucky isn’t representative of the American population.

Because Bevin was an asshole carpetbagger who started pension wars with our citizens.
False. The liberal media does their job well with people like you.

I appreciate the adult conversation. There are less than 10 million black people in all of Europe put together. There are over 41 million here. Of course there are going to be more millionaires. I applaud their hard work and dedication. None of which indicates America has more social mobility than European countries like Norway(one random example) which was the conversation. As for them and their success I would simply ask you, are they the rule? Or the exception? You don’t have to answer, we both know. What you need to acknowledge is that those women’s success stories aren’t as simple as the ‘Just budget!’ line of BS they’re serving. Or most everyone would be a millionaire. It’s luck. They don’t want to acknowledge it because they lived it and want to think their position is due to their decisions and work. Which are obviously important factors. But not the main ones. What’s the one common thread in their three stories? “Take risks!” And what does that mean? For every one of them that those risks paid off for there are many more for whom they did not.
Black people and women become millionaires by “luck,” according to D-Sus. What a great way to “applaud their hard work and dedication.” The real BS is to claim that the foundations of this country are not significant. This from a poster who got a college degree in history and has had the opportunity to travel globally. A history degree and world travel. It’s hard to imagine that was caused by hard work and dedication. Yet, he questions the accomplishments of others and the environment that encouraged those accomplishments. I am not sure you can get more elitist than that.

It’s all luck, except if you live in Norway or some other European country. He calls this an honest conversation.

Because it’s a Kentucky sports forum. Kentucky is an extremely Trumpy state. Not indicative of the nation at large in any way. Diversity, income, or political affiliation. And sports is generally more of a rightwing activity than lefty. There are tons of entertainment options in today’s world, sports is a traditionalist thing. Also this being a sports forum and not a political one, the only people here are hardcore politics enthusiasts. People who care so much it bleeds into every aspect of their lives. Like sports. It’s also old. Which means conservative. Not many young healthy people spending time here.

Do you actually think this thread is representative of the political makeup of the country at large?
Trumpy state voted for Beshear. People preferred Trump to historically incompetent. Those were the choices. I applaud Kentucky for that. You act as though Kentucky voted for Trump over good candidates. That is historically false.

Because Bevin was an asshole carpetbagger who started pension wars with our citizens.

Now consider your characterizations of Trump and see the inconsistency of your argument. You are all over the board. Which solidifies my inpression that you don’t believe most of what you post.

Geez. D-Sus constantly derides his own state and country. THAT is the foundation for the angst he desires to fabricate so that we continue to slide more and more to oppressive regimes in this country. It’s not about an honest perspective, but about tearing down and promoting the worst so D-Sus and his ilk can gain control. The Borg were more sincere.

There is only one country that is in the discussion as to greatest of all time. That happened on the foundation of government and economy you attempt to tear down. No one truly believes it would have been that way on the foundations of communism. No one.

And, here is your typical Biden/Warnock/Abrams voter . . .

That GJ lasted months. You have to wonder who could afford to do that. Think of all the people who got out of that duty. She looks like a college sophomore and SHE was the foreperson. With that admitted predisposition, how hard would it be for a liberal prosecutor to manipulate? That is a bad look. Someone in the prosecution’s office has to be cringing, if they care.

I’m a democratic socialist, not a communist. I understand nuance isn’t y’all’s forte so I don’t push back every time I’m called a dirty commie, but please don’t flat out lie to a thread newcomer.

That’s a rejection of democracy, not socialism. Or maybe even capitalism, unless you’ve gone from saying Kentucky is run by warlords to now saying it’s socialist.

Their solid work ethic hasn’t gotten them very far. Eastern Kentucky has six of the bottom twenty lowest median household income counties in the entire country. Almost like work ethic isn’t the sole defining characteristic of success huh?
Those counties represent what you want the rest of the country to be. Broke and dependent on government for subsistence.
I’m on record with my prediction that Ukraine will not escalate into nuclear WWIII. You can go on record as well with whatever prediction you want, as long as you’ll be here to eat your crow when it’s all said and done.
I took a screenshot! If Russia lobs a bunch of nukes at us, I'll be right here to throw it back in your face. Man, will you look stupid then. Idiot

? He and Trump lost for exactly the same reason. They’re assholes. Some people really like that and support it strongly. The majority don’t and some are even willing to vote against their own ideological leanings to oppose it. Both Bevin and Trump would be in office right now if they had just toned it down a bit. But they couldn’t. Explain how that’s inconsistent.

I will give you credit. You at least stick to your blind adherence of your beliefs. Where has socialism worked? Lets just leave it there. And please dont say, it just hasnt been done right, because thats the point. IT CAN NOT be implemented correctly because those in power hoard ALL the wealth. Socialism just really narrows down the group who gets to hoard it. You can bash democracy and capitalism, but show us a single example of Socialism on a large scale where it didnt boil down to a handful of people having ALL the wealth and ALL the power, while the people scrounged for enough to eat.

Wow. Great start. Now the attacks.

His interview with Tucker was awesome. Brutally honest, and is essentially saying that there will be tough love shown in order to get this country back on track. Of course, the liberal fanatics will go ballistic and scream that their rights are being infringed upon and their blank checks will be extinct. He will have a tough time getting thru the political barb wired inner circle, but at least his voice will be heard and that is long overdue.

Can you actually imagine him going up against Biden in a debate?

What threat did Germany pose to the United States directly in WWII? Are you doing a John Belushi in Animal House impression thinking they bombed Pearl Harbor or what? I am interested to know as according to you it is greater than nuclear tipped hypersonic missiles so I am all ears?

In page after page also according to you guys what happens in Europe isn't our business anyway, so would you have even advocated US involvement in WWII Europe?
You take too many posts and make them a mess with too many pointless words. This is simple so pay attention. I responded to a poster who made the same comparison between Putin and Hitler that we’ve heard for the umpteenth time: that we must act or it’s appeasement. The difference being that in 1938 there was nothing like NATO to counter aggression.

If Putin were to somehow take Ukraine, NATO stands in his way. Nothing like that existed in 1938. There’s an enormous difference.

I know the "difference" and why you'd claim to be the former over the latter.

Canada. I gave a whole list of countries with more socialist tendencies. We’ve been talking about them for days. If anyone mentions they want universal healthcare y’all scream socialism at the top of your lungs. Now when you want to denigrate socialism successful universal healthcare programs don’t qualify? Which is it?

That’s not a new rule, they’ve just ignored it.

The famous song, War.....here are the lyrics. Substitute "liberalism" in place of "war".....wow.

War, huh, yeah
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing, uhh
War, huh, yeah
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Say it again, y'all
War, huh (good God)
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing, listen to me, oh
War, I despise
'Cause it means destruction of innocent lives
War means tears to thousands of mother's eyes
When their sons go off to fight
And lose their lives
I said, war, huh (good God, y'all)
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing, just say it again
War (whoa), huh (oh Lord)
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing, listen to me
It ain't nothing but a heart-breaker
(War) Friend only to The Undertaker
Oh, war it's an enemy to all mankind
The thought of war blows my mind
War has caused unrest
Within the younger generation
Induction then destruction
Who wants to die? Oh
War, huh (good God y'all)
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing
Say it, say it, say it
War (uh-huh), huh (yeah, huh)
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing, listen to me
It ain't nothing but a heart-breaker
(War) It's got one friend that's The Undertaker
Oh, war, has shattered many a young man's dreams
Made him disabled, bitter and mean
Life is much too short and precious
To spend fighting wars each day
War can't give life
It can only take it away, oh
War, huh (good God y'all)
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing, say it again
War (whoa), huh (oh Lord)
What is it good for?
Absolutely nothing, listen to me
It ain't nothing but a heart breaker
(War) Friend only to The Undertaker, woo
Peace, love and understanding, tell me
Is there no place for them today?
They say we must fight to keep our freedom
But Lord knows there's got to be a better way, oh
War, huh (God y'all)
What is it good for? You tell me (nothing)
Say it, say it, say it, say it
War (good God), huh (now, huh)
What is it good for?
Stand up and shout it (nothing)
