ESG score has to be accounted for to. Banks are already adjusting loans to environmentally friendly loans. I've seen where carbon footprints were added to interest rates on loans. I think Biden on his knees begging the oil companies to lower prices will work, although the VP might do it even better. That and the President openly saying he wanted to run fossil fuel companies out of business while simultaneously ending the Keystone XL Pipeline. FERC making it damn hard to build interstate pipelines also severely hampers production growth. Biden’s FERC appointee flipped the committee to being democrat led and they shifted hard away from their stated goal of ensuring “reliable, safe, secure, and economically efficient energy at a reasonable cost” and far more into pushing green energy.
Not a damn one of these people are sincere about lowering emissions or using clean energy until they back building a nationwide nuclear generating fleet.

What happened at the end of Trump’s term that hampered oil production? Could it have been a worldwide pandemic (thanks to China and our very own CDC) that destroyed global fuel demand and forced producers to back off production?
Also, crude production was near record levels when Trump took office (thanks to the shale revolution with a majority of drilling occurring on private lands, not thanks to Obama btw) and it grew substantially until COVID impart due to Trump being much more domestic energy friendly and helping to remove some road blocks that allowed infrastructure to be built more quickly.
Biden reversed some of these changes right out of the gate, stated he wanted to destroy oil companies, and cancelled the Keystone XL. He’s now saying these same companies need to come help him by investing hundreds of millions into new production/infrastructure that he may try and cancel or limit as soon as the current oil crisis is corrected.
