CA was the beta test for the rest of the country. They been rigging elections out here for years.
I believe everything as we know it should be questioned even all of the narratives from the past. I think the two party system is an illusion. I think the people who "win" elections aren't actually the ones who win. I think parties have rigged primaries. I think incumbents who stay in office for 40 years aren't actually winning every single election. I question every single government narrative fed to us through media and school.

I think every war has been presented with a bogus narrative. You're seeing it in real time with the Ukraine/Russia stuff. I think the Civil War, both World Wars were infected with the same type of lies.

Agree. But they still don't have income if you give them over that. Just that you have to file Form 709 to show the excess over $16K in a year & that amount reduces your estate $11-12M exemption from estate taxes. I mean there are no Fed taxes on inheritances to the $11-12M limit/person, so why would there be taxes on gifts under that? Same money.
I took basic tax years ago. At that time, once the federal gift threshold was met, the recipient had taxable income.

IOW, because you can't/won't supply the law or reg that backs your view, you go off on me. If me saying I don't believe you makes you a liar when you give me nothing that supports your statement, so be it. I've never paid taxes on gifts to one person over $10K up to $15K I've made in one year nor has the receiver, and I'm willing to be perfectly public about that. Your son doing your taxes has nothing to do with this. I don't doubt he's good. But you don't think I consult a CPA on my donations?
I think I've identified who vhcat70 is...

It's worse than that. You rates are going up, but your speed is going down. You can't just dump 40 millions mofos onto the network all at once and expect it not to cause a traffic jam.
Also, with the government providing this money to these ISP's, how much will these ISP's be beholden to the government in terms of what information they allow on their servers, and what they allow the users to access.

"Annual Gift Exclusion

Like we’ve mentioned before, the annual exclusion limit (the cap on tax-free gifts) is a whopping $16,000 per person per year for 2022 (it’s $15,000 for gifts made in 2021). So even if you do give outrageously, you wouldn’t have to file a gift tax return unless you went over those limits."

"Lifetime Gift Exclusion

Another way to dance around the gift tax is the lifetime gift tax exclusion. This is the total amount—$12.06 million for 2022—you’re able to give away tax-free over the course of your lifetime above the annual gift tax exclusion.3 The exclusion is doubled to $24.12 million for married couples."

So if your estate never adds up to $12M, no gift taxes to the giver. It's same as inheritance - which is never taxed to receiver.

No idea why this is so hard for people.

Just means everyone here can give me more as long as it is a one-time gift for life. So you guys get to giving.

A number of years ago, my ex-wifes parents, who were well off, were gifting their children some money to go towards their mortgage payments. At the time, the limit was $12,500 from one individual to another because between the two of us we got four checks for that amount totaling $50K, one each from her mother and one each from her father which were all applied towards the mortgage. That was all considered gift and neither us or them had any tax implications. It did become a little bit of a sticking point in divorce proceedings some years later but I was willing to take a little bit of a bath on the house to get out of there. Loving my current home and new wife oceans better.

The officer apparently killed herself.
Were they trying to recreate Escape at Dannemora? Not sure what they thought was going to happen when you know damn good and well there will be a nationwide manhunt for you. I guess the Mexican border is a little too busy these days for them to sneak across in the other direction. Or maybe Mexico has tighter restrictions than we do on who the let in these days.

Yep. It’s naive to believe that gov and mankind in general has been corruptible and oppressive by nature throughout the course of history and it somehow it just suddenly stopped with the birth of the US. What better way to keep the masses under control than to give them the illusion of freedom and a gov “by the people and for the people”. That being said, it still the best country to be a citizen of by far but our trajectory suggests that may be changing.

10 years.

Look what happened in 10 years. That's Detroit.

Gonna assume the 2008 housing crisis played a factor.
Pluto TV has been advertising nonstop the last month or two a commercial with Oprah about how one's zip code is determinant on if you live or die. In other words...healthcare in the inner city is poor or nonexistent. A show/documentary they are, or willing be showing.
If anybody knows doctors...like many other professions....they are not going to work in the inner city where your safety is at risk and you pay is significantly lower....much, much lower. So therefore, healthcare will not be as good. Your really good smart doctors will go to the cities, 'burbs where the pay is high and there is little to no crime.
Every time I see the commercial I think....why does Oprah prefer to live in her Santa Barbara mansion/estate.....and not in Watts down the road?

Someone working at that library, had to call that thing, negotiate a deal with it, get some sort of approval for it, likely pay it some money. Everyone on that libraries staff that had any say whatsoever in this should be fired. How any sane individual can look at something called "Rainbow Dildo Butt Monkey" and think it would be appropriate, entertaining and educational for children, has no place anywhere near children.

These types believe whatever is popular and what their TV tells them. Women are statistically much more likely to go along with trends. It's why advertising is geared more toward them. They are the biggest followers. So you've got a group who is susceptible to trends, overly emotional, and easily manipulated to make emotionally-driven decisions and we wonder why the majority vote Democrat?
