Gift recipients don’t pay tax on the gift.

Individuals can give up to the annual exclusion to any individual without worrying about tax. Even if it’s above the annual exclusion, you still have the lifetime exemption to chip away at. Above the lifetime exemption, you’ll pay tax.

Income taxes are paid on income. If some pays your tax, that’s also income. Divide the initial income amount by one minus the tax rate and you have the “grossed up” amount of income and amount to pay to cover the tax impact.

So which is it, she’s a lowly bartender who couldn’t use her worthless degree or she’s a rich elite mooching off the working man? Y’all need to get your narrative straight.
Lol she was a lowly bartender who someone clearly put money behind now she does nothing but live off tax payers driving a tesla wearing 10k dresses to galas

There is no story to get straight. She's everything you claim you hate about the government and politicians. And she's still too incompetent/lazy to pay her loans off

I use to post daily over on the D League. I believe it was @UK_fan_41102 who would post every morning some of the most beautiful pictures from all over the world. Looked forward to them every morning. Seemed like every one of them VH would post that he had been there. No matter if it was a French Riviera small fishing village or a small village in the Himalayas....VH was there....stayed in the room on the third floor overlooking whatever. LOL
You are missed.

Really hope that wasn't directed at @Sawnee Cat because if so, Wow!
Yea. I was like...

Not necessarily. The money to pay a person’s tax can still be a gift. It can also be a loan (which is not taxable as long as it is truly an arms length transaction), or it can be income. Who gives it and why determine the nature of it.

with that comment I take it you are calling me a liar. My son has multiple degrees in accounting and business management. Been doing my taxes for years and never any issues. What I stated was actual fact that I had to deal with. With that I trust my sons judgement and education more than any sometimes left leaning liberal. I don’t give a rats ass what you believe. Put that in your liberal pipe and smoke it! You seem to be an expert on anything but really a dumbass on most.
IOW, because you can't/won't supply the law or reg that backs your view, you go off on me. If me saying I don't believe you makes you a liar when you give me nothing that supports your statement, so be it. I've never paid taxes on gifts to one person over $10K up to $15K I've made in one year nor has the receiver, and I'm willing to be perfectly public about that. Your son doing your taxes has nothing to do with this. I don't doubt he's good. But you don't think I consult a CPA on my donations?

yawn lib, yawn. Like I said, I know what I dealt with and how much it was. You are one of the main reasons I dont post much anymore on the D thread. I was a very early member per say but I watched your lib views on the political thread then you meander with the nice guy Im in agreement on the D thread. Thats called talking out of both sides. You are a proven champ at that. With that you have joined the other lib dipshits that I have blocked. Enjoy your miserable liberal life!!

I don’t know about state income taxes, but gifts are not taxable income to the recipient from a federal tax standpoint. Again, they’re taxable to the person giving the gift if it’s over a certain amount. I think it’s now $20’000 per year but that amount could’ve changed.
There is nothing taxable for the giver until total gifts exceed $16K/yr per any one person exceeds the Fed estate tax lower limit of $11-12M/person (Don't know exact number, Marley.). Just have to file Form 709 - look it up - when a yearly gift exceeds $16K. Don't know why people think this is so hard.

VH presents as an expert on everything(see every post he makes), but his takes are about as valid as those of PLAT/SAMMY, RQ/FUZZ, or SAMBOWIESHIN/SCIENCEDUDE!

IOW, his takes are quite commonly awful.
Show me I'm wrong on this subject. Otherwise, your FOS. Waiting.

It was Vernazza, Italy. Just beautiful. Been over lots of Europe & NAm. Not much else. Going to Greece in Sept. Haven't been.

True story, but dion will laugh at it...make a smart ass post....and probably tag me with a laughing emoji.
When I lived outside Atlanta there were 3 large lakes within an hour and 15 minutes of us. So I had a boat. Knew some people that we went boating together. The guy told me a story...and swore it was true along with his wife. He wasn't the kind to lie and/or exaggerate. Said they had another couple in their boat one day and the conversation turned to religion and the existence of God. Said that the other guy had too much to drink on a bight, hot, sunny day. The guy got up and stood at the front of the boat and raised his beer and basically said the same thing dion did.

.....said that from a clear sunny day....the guy was struck by lightening.
Make of it what you may....but I believed the guy because I knew him.
Reminds me of that "comedian" chick that passed out on stage.

Exactly. As I was saying. Thanks.

I think @TheFrontRunner lives in Evansville? If so...your town just hit the national news.

The officer apparently killed herself.

The limit was $20,000 per year. I don’t know if it has changed since then..
