Haven't posted in a long time and just happened to decide to read the board today and came across your post Sawnee. I'll have to limit what I say somewhat to remain slightly anonymous.
If you had asked me about Danville 20-25 years ago, I would have told you that it would be nearly impossible to find a better place to live and raise a family.
It is still not a BAD place, just not what it once was.
In my opinion, the influence of Centre College and the local medical corporate monopoly(Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical center) have contributed to it's decline.
I'm sure there are a lot of colleges and universities out there that are more "woke" than Centre, but Centre's "wokeness" stands out in a small generally conservative town like Danville.
I hope your granddaughter makes a wise choice, but more importantly I pray she is fully prepared for the next step of her life and has had proper values instilled in her that will help her to withstand the manipulative indoctrination practices that are employed by so many professors and administrators at these institutions.
I think most parents probably used to only worry about "bad" influences from their child's classmates. Now you have to be concerned just as much about the adults in authority.
