OK, so I traveled to Madison Wisconsin this week for work. I mentioned yesterday about having to survey a restaurant with a tent city right next to it. So I got there about 7:30 this morning. There’s probably 50 or so tents or campsites set up throughout the park. A cluster of them right within a few feet of our parking lot. Most of the meth heads and heroine addicts were probably still passed out. The few people I saw milling about that were part of a campsite were majority white. When I was inside I tried observing for a bit. I had some time to kill so I was taking my time. The black guys that were milling around were coming and going from the park and didn’t really seem associated with any of the tents. Only one I saw get in a tent to get something. My observation was that the black guys milling about were either some sort of security and/or dealers. I witnessed one of them strolling past a campsite, then he kinda nonchalantly flicked something onto the ground as he was strolling like nobody would notice. He just kept walking. When he got a little further away I saw a little white dude scurry over to pick up whatever he dropped. Most of these vagrants are the ones you see panhandling on the side of the road. Boss man wants us to put up a privacy fence along the property line. The tent city is driving customers away.
now on a positive note. I was at a pub eating dinner and having a good variety of beers to choose from Tuesday night. All was going well then I asked for the bill. The Cute bartender handed it to me then I reached for my wallet. It wasn’t there. I had an Oh Shit moment. I had left it at the hotel. I asked her if I could Venmo or PayPal or Apple Pay or whatever she said they couldn’t, but she said I could go back to the hotel and get it. She actually trusted me to do that. So I left, got my wallet and came back to pay, I left her a nice tip for trusting me, and I’ll definitely be going back there again on future trips.

I have a fast food drive thru experience to add to the recent discussion. I stopped at Zaxby's to get my mom and son something to eat and had the best drive thru experience yet during the pandemic. There was a worker outside before you get to where you order that had some kind of tablet with a menu hanging down. She took my order from there and then I drove around to the other side by the pickup window.
There were only like 3 cars ahead of me and each got their food and I was out of there in just a few minutes. I would have loved to see how this does when it's busy but it wasn't or it was so efficient it kept it from getting backed up. More places should go to this type of system to get more orders placed quicker and started preparing sooner so you can have your food ready as soon as you hit the window.
I never go to Chick Fil A (30 minute round trip from my house) so this might be the same system they use that makes them more efficient.

It is the same system. During peak time, they have a small army of people outside with tablets. Sometimes they take the payment too. When they do, by the time you get to the window theyre holding your food out the window waiting on you.
