We actually have a large Live Oak tree in front of our county courthouse called the hanging tree. Back in the day they would hold court and if you were guilty of a capital offense they would march you out there and hang your ass. No appeal just a rope and a tree.

A group actually showed up recently demanding the tree be cut down because it was "racist". Our sheriff ran them back to Tampa

She kept people in pain and squalor, denying medical assistance, because “suffering is godly.” Everything was about the afterlife, not this one, with no priority put on actually helping people, just converting them. Natives were literally tortured until they converted, sometimes to death, at which point they were given deathbed or posthumous baptisms. All the donations she took in went to her aims and not the people she was supposedly collecting them for. She’s a poster child for the evils of colonial missionary racist imperialism in general and Catholicism specifically.
