I was giving him a ton of crap yesterday, but here you go, this is a good move by him. This is exactly what I was talking about. It's his state, he can choose to enforce the laws even if the federal government isn't.

What are you talking about? You do know Californians get fined for not having health insurance and they use some of that money to pay for Medi-Cal right? Medi-Cal is a state-federal funded program.
Im not sure what youre talking about if youre trying to say Medi-Cal is free and has no financial impact on California. Because if that is what you're saying, you're blatantly incorrect. That isn't debatable. Yes they use some federal money to support it, but the majority of it is state funded, especially with all the expanded coverages they are now doing.
Yup, it really shouldnt have taken this long. Once this huge surge started, that is when this shouldve been announced. Actually, this should've been law all along. If you come here illegally you deserve to get arrested.
It is amazing to me how much the right has bent over backwards when it comes to illegals. It went from if youre here illegally you should be deported and sent back. To now most politicians on the right seem to be fine with catch and release, even if they dont show up to their court date, they should only get ICE called on them and deported when they commit a felony.
No, it should be if you're illegal and you're caught, you get deported. As simple as that.
Im also curious on what the plan is after they arrest them. Are they just giving them a misdemeanour and letting them go? Or are they deporting them? Because if its just arresting them and giving them a misdemeanour and a court date, this changes nothing.

Laws may still be on the books and just ignored by Republicans and Dems....but not too many years....late in the Clinton administration?...remember Congress passing a number of immigration laws dealing with illegals. One was if you're a company and you got caught hiring illegals they were fines to pay, etc.

Everyone in the country could see this coming on November 4th or 5th. So why would there not have been a plan in place in these border states...especially Texas and Arizona (forget Calif and N. Mexico)?
