Per CJ-Louisville Meeting with NCAA Infractions RIGHT NOW

YR4eZ.gif

Danielle Lerner of the Courier-Journal just tweeted that we won't know anything until "late spring or early summer".

Texas tried to hire him. Indiana tried to hire him. Tennessee approached him.
Actively looking is not in any way accurate.
Barnhart was in discussion with Tennessee, considered going to Kansas, and had been approached by Colorado. He is not actively seeking a change either, but was considered for several.
That's all pre-audit

how long can those dirtbags spin fairy tales should be cut and dried we are guilty and there is nothing you can do about it:cool2:

Im sure there is plenty if lawyering going on...that always takes more time than necessary.

That makes sense. I couldn't imagine they would hear rebuttals and rule the same day.
I also cannot imagine it would take an entire day of hearings, followed by several months to deliberate, for the NCAA to say that UofL took appropriate disciplinary action and the case is resolved.

Fifteeno is pissed that he had to remove the cialis dispenser from the wall in his office. It would be tough to explain that one during an interview.

Hope they ID Coach Mike and ask why was McGee still hiring and paying for prostitutes for underage kids for UL from Mo? Hope they don't buy that rogue coach garbage. Also how could this go on for years on campus with all the security and grad assts and coaches in the dorm all the time .. some of coaches and grad assts and managers lived in there

Too close to the Derby for more bad news, as far as Falls City is concerned. Makes their Yum Center agreement look even worse. Hard times by the river.

They have to punish them.
UNC is one thing...well we can't control whether or not classes are real blah blah blah.

But, our amateur athletes are getting gifts in the form of prostitutes from the school--that's a lot of bad publicity, and they have to do something in that case.

The question is...what?

Do you say that they get top recruits via these vile acts and that the championship should be taken away?

Surely they'll say the current kids had no role, and they don't want to cause them unjust difficulty or whatever hogwash.

Endgame--I think they'll say the staff and administration are at fault and punish them--meaning a substantial fine, reduction in scholarships, Rick banned for a season.

Post-season ban makes sense--but none of these kids were there.
Taking the championship down make sense, and God I hope they do, but I doubt it.

Not that I want to disagree with you, but I think you are wrong on two points. One, I think Rick is teflon. He is a US citizen and his rights are back by the constitution. The NCAA won't touch him unless they can defend their case in court. A post season ban is almost certain since it has already happened. For that reason, I do not expect the NCAA to extend it. Second, I think the loss of championship is a very real possibility if a favor was granted to a player which played in the post season. From this comes the fine, the NCAA will want the spoils back. Scholarships? Yeah, they are screwed.

Now back to R3P. The NCAA could leave his fate to UL. I could see the NCAA, behind closed doors saying to UL, you hired the crazy SOB, you deal with him. Don't deal with him, the DP is on the table.

Lastly, if we compare this to the NC filth then if UL infraction is 100' tall, then the dump that NC took on college basketball is miles deep. The only fair treatment for NC would be for the NCAA to tell them they are simply no longer welcome. Expunge them from the record for every year an infraction occurred. Allow them to apply for membership again in 10 years. All sports. Never happen, though it would be moral and just.

They suspended Boeheim 1/4 a season for less. They can ban Rick for a year.

The NCAA is calling for a 1 year Suspension of Pitino and Jurich is stoutly defending him...

To Rick's defense, maybe Katrina is his Shipoopi.

Oh I agree. The question is will they. It's the quality of the evidence that will come to play. R3P's chances in court are much better than UL. The burden of proof falls to the NCAA. Further, R3P must be given due process. This makes for very expensive and messy legal fallout. Like I said, I want you to be correct.

IMO, while the ul stuff certainly falls into the realm of immoral, what UNC has done is more within what the NCAA should be interested in: competitive advantage.
unc's conduct afforded their team advantages that other teams could not enjoy.
If they can prove what ul did gave them a competitive advantage during a particular season or seasons, their wins should be voided for those seasons. Additional consequences such as a year or two of probation would be appropriate.
We know what unc did afforded a competitive advantage. Likewise, wins should be voided, but in their case, such disregard for the rules and the duration of that behavior should result in much more severe consequences.
The ncaa is not the moral police. Their role is to make sure rules are followed so that no team has an unfair advantage.

Well, to an extent I agree. Morality does come to play when the integrity of the sport is called to question, aka gambling and in this case prostitution.

Even with gambling, the issue of concern to the ncaa should be only the extent to which it influences the outcomes of games.

I disagree. The C in NCAA stands for College. The college's role is an extension of the family They are supposed to take young people from their home and educate and prepare them to be productive citizens as an adult. So, yes morality is important and I believe that's the way the college administrators on the committee will feel.

Not saying morality is not important but I certainly wouldn't want the ncaa becoming the moral police. Personally, the perfect illustration of this is when the ncaa got involved in the "bathroom" issue in North Carolina. Morally, they took the wrong side. They are not qualified to dictate or monitor morality. There are other agencies in our society charged with that responsibility.
Still, their focus is not the morality of the ul position, but the impact it had on competition. IMO, there is that connection.
