Peach Jam thread; Today 4 pm ET on ESPN2 for the 17U Title

Hope he plays a year of college...at UK.
The G-League hasn't been mentioned much at all with him at this point. I think UK proved what they could do with SGA--and that went a long way with Sharpe's camp. Throw in the NIL selling point to at least give $$ opportunities as well and I'm confident of where UK stands with Sharpe at this point and chances he'll play CBB.

I like our chances as well but I'm not ruling anything out when money is waved below somebody's nose.

J. BRADLEY 6.5
C. Wallace 6.3

Bradley and Cason Wallace the leaders at Peach Jam in assists per game. No evidence I've seen UK is following Bradley anymore.
Cal went to one of Bradley's games and UK had an Assistant that went unnamed so it was either Coach O or Jai Lucas yesterday watching him play.

Thing with Bradley's numbers, he's yet to do what UK wanted to see him work on as they recruited him throughout the year and that was improve his jumper--he's not taking 3's much and the one's he's taken he's not making. He's also having a poor efficiency game in terms of Assist to TO. Too many 8 assists, to 8 TO games. He's a guard who loves to push/play fast, which is why I get why Alabama loves idea of him--not to mention he's close with Jarace Walker who they covet--but you have to value the ball and make shots or you become a liability.

After the 1st Week of "regular season" EYBL play Cason Wallace is the MVP. Now they head into the Postseason/"Peach Jam" portion. He's done exactly what so many of us were confident he'd do and that is play at an elite level as a PG and he impacts the game in so many ways. Just elevates his teammates play and knows how to take over scoring or when to distribute. Best defensive PG in class.

Also noticed that '23 PG Bryson Warren has had a nice week as he was elevated to MoKan's top team and the noticeable difference has been improved play from Tarris Reed and Felix Okpara with Warren playing the PG spot. More of a true PG and more like Kennedy Chandler in terms of style of play then Skyy Clark who is a score first combo type then a traditional PG.

One game that interested me in terms of reading that UK attended yesterday was Team Thad 17u vs Albany City Rocks.

Players of note for both teams that could be who UK was checking out:

JJ Starling a combo guard on Albany City

Chandler Jackson
Jalen Hood Schifino who are both with Team Thad

I tuned in and Sharpe hit a 3 . It’s a blowout .

Emoni Bates is playing on court 5. I have yet to be blown away watching him play . Maybe I haven’t watched the right games lol
Bates is very good but to credit JustWar who reached to me 2 yrs ago and said he didn't see any generational talent with him--that's turned out to be true. I think it's been a bad decision to leave his HS team and form that "Bates Prep" thing and Bates did look very good with Team Final playing with elite players, but back with his Dad's AAU team he's been a 1 man gang for most part with really volume performances. Think the hype of being the next........was not handled great, but he's a very talented kid who I think would be benefit from another year of HS and going CBB route due to his frame, but we know how that works. I mean he's a big KD fan and a player with a similar frame--albeit KD was taller and more elite coming out of HS played all 4 yrs of HS (moved to an established Prep school) and then 1 yr of college.

Jai Lucas did watch one of his games recently.

Yeah I was wondering is it the teams he’s playing on. I watched the 4th quarter of the game that just finished against Oakland Soldiers and he was getting doubled and tripled teamed. He kept making the right basketball play but his teammates wasn’t taking advantage of it . To be fair it’s always unfair to hype of these kids in that manner though . I saw the Jai Lucas tweet about him watching Emoni.

Do you think there is any chance he does take the college route ?

No idea. I had a good friend who was close to the Bates family and he passed away this past year from battle with Cancer. He grew up with Emoni's dad but interesting enough he was telling me last time he went to see him at Ypsilanti Lincoln prior to Covid shutdown that he needed to get tougher and stronger. Several have dogged him due to the hype which I get but he's gone from not living up to that generational label to being underrated as a player. He looked great with Team Final and him leaving them I think will cost them chance to win the Peach Jam. Just think other teams are better at guard and deeper but hope Team Final just plays well enough to make the Semifinals to see them play. I am selfish and want UK targets to make the Peach Jam TV games. LOL

Jack Pilgrim reported that Cal/Coach O/Chin all watched NY Rens vs CP3 earlier.

Jaden Bradley didn't play today.

Rens have '23 Simeon Wilcher who UK has tracked and Pilgrim also mentioned Chance Westry and Kyle Flipowski but Flipowski is a lock to Duke at this point and Westry transferred to Hillcrest Prep after leaving Sierra Canyon, briefly showing at up at The Patrick School with Zion Cruz for an event and then settling in at Hillcrest in the last 2 months. (CA was playing their HS basketball late due to Covid). Westry's had a great AAU season and played as he once did prior to joining Sierra Canyon but I don't expect UK to get involved there.

My guess is they moved to that court to check out Wilcher and be in position to next game on that court-which was likely Team Final.

Doubt the big dogs get involved with him, but Alex Karaban would be perfect for a blue-blood program that needs a prolific shooter and score as a multi-year type of guy. He played extremely well yesterday.

Interesting development in terms of a guy who UK may be checking out right now: Adem Bona is back from being quarantined from playing for Tukey in the 19U Tournament and is suited up with Team Why Not right now playing against Bradley Beal Elite. Early in game he's already got 4 pts and 5 rebs against Brandon Miller and Nick Smith--so sure UK got eyes on that one. Chin has connections to his Prep School and also interesting he didn't return to WeAllCanGo with Livingston this weekend at Adidas Event.

Livingston had his best game in a while once Mikey Williams didn't show up and play. Mikey Williams is a creation of hype and is a fraud player. He makes every team he's on worse.

Shouldn't we be all in on Lively? Flipper is probably going to Duke.
UK was there watching '23 guard Simeon Wilcher who plays for Rens 17U team. But they also were there for next game and not to see Flipowski or Westry--unless they are trying to get involved with Westry but UK doesn't usually invest much time with Hillcrest Prep guys.

Sorry for your loss . I was wondering why he went to play for Team Final but then decided to go back to Bates Fundamental . I hope they make to the semifinals too . It’s a much better viewing on TV with announcers lol

Team Final won 70-61 over Indy Heat in OT. I'll provide stats and pretty easy to figure out why the game went to OT

Jalen Duren and Dereck Lively COMBINED to get 8 FGA and made 5. They went to FT line 4 times COMBINED and made all 4. This team has to realize who is the star talent and who isn't---and yes I'm saying it as a cranky fan who fears we won't get to see them on ESPNU this week because of their shot happy guards.

Duren went 10 pts, 7 rebs, 2 assists and 2 steals.

Lively went 4 pts, 2 Rebs, 7 blocked shots.

Yes--but really concerned about their guard play and today's stats show why. You have 2 of the top 3 prospects in country and they get 8 FGA combined? Against a team that they should've blown out too. They struggled against the awful Strive For Greatness Team who has been awful winning by 2 pts. Tre White shooting about 20% for the week, Sada Nganga's strange handling as he played most of week, then pouted and got a DNP against Team Final only to play 3 mins today and he's not been good at all at Peach Jam. Throw in Bronny having 2 ofer games with 1 being 0-9 and today he was 0-10 from field and yet he's talked of as a must see player....it's a **** show.

But Team Final should be dog walking a team like that. But their guards seem to have decided it's their time and that will likely lead to falling short of SemiFinals.

I'd expect NY Rens, Proskills, and a wildcard team to make it along with Team Final if things played out as expected--usually some team goes on a run and have to see impact Adem Bona has today against BBE-as Miller/Nick Smith Jr are playing well but they lack help with Sears not playing point due to injury I believe.
