Over the years. Who's the Top high school player from each of Ky's 16 regions ?

I started to put 1 and 1A. Honestly, I always felt like Miller slightly underachieved and Feldhaus slightly overachieved. Just an opinion.
Feldhaus had the size to dominate in that region at the time. Not taking anything away from him. Truly was above expectations in college in terms of overall career.

5th Region
Clem Haskins-Taylor Co-WKU
Boo Brewer-Bardstown-U of L
Anthony Epps- Marion Co-UK
Elton Scott-Marion Co-WVU
Tick Rodgers-Hart Co-U of L
Robbie Valentine-North Hardin- U of L
Kevin Ellery-Washington Co-Notre Dame
Antwoin Barbour-Elizabethtown-UK

In my opinion, Clem was clearly the best.

I would add:

Clarence Glover -- Caverna. He was a starter on WKU's Final Four team that embarrassed UK. Was a first-round pick of the Celtics.

Terry Compton, Hart Memorial (which morphed into Hart County) I think they only lost one game before losing to (eventual champ) Louisville Male in the state tournament. Led Vandy in scoring all three years. They beat UK 4 straight games.

Kenny Higgs wasn't too shabby in the 3rd region.
Kenny is Owensboro High's all-time leading scorer, over 1800 pts. Played for LSU, then 3 seasons in the NBA.

You might remember his brother, Mark Higgs, RB for the Wildcats, then the NFL. Not too shabby. Had a 43 " vertical and built like a tank.

Off the top of my head, Dave Cowens, 9th Region.

If you are going strictly by performance in high school, maybe Dicky Beal. Cowens developed late and wasn't overpowering in high school.
Scott Draud averaged 36 a game 2 years in a row at Highlands...Derek Smith Runner up to Mr. basketball and Mr. football at Highlands

And was said to wallop Rex Chapman for dunking his sister. Mark Higgs that is.

John Pelphery in the 15th has to be in the conversation
I'm a 15th Region guy and as much as I love Pelphrey he could not hold a candle to "King" Kelly Coleman. Had the three point shot been instituted during Coleman's time he would've averaged 60ppg.

Such a list must surely begin with Howie Crittenden of the Cuba Cubs of the 1st region. Led the Cubs to a State Championship in 1952 by upsetting Louisville Manuel. All-time great at Murray, Fabulous ball-handler and great scorer.
I saw a picture of the Cubs and one of them was hanging on the rim. Anyone know who that player was?

I was lucky enough that my Dad took me to see Howie and Cubs both in '51 and '52 thru out the state tourney. They were great and Crittenden has to be best of the 1st, you're right!

The book "When Cuba Conquered Kentucky" is a classic for Ky history and I still have my copy.
