Pope just needs some time. Unlike Cal, who QUIT his last 4 years with future NBA players. Losing to LOW major schools not only during the season but during the NCAA Tournament!!!
At the end of the day it was more fun to watch.. Cal never lost by 30 at UK
Sure, all of those "Rock fights" with dudes that couldn't throw it in the ocean here until last season, then he decides to sit the 2 that could make shots on the bench.
Those NCAA Tournament games were a HOOT!! Heck, Bruce Pearl beat Cal with his best player HURT in the Elite 8 in 2019. And St Peters and Oakland were JUGGERNAUTS!!!
Look I'm gonna be real with you sonofbitches. I don't think most expected to win tonight, I didn't. However I didn't expect the biggest beat down of the year in friendly Nashville after losing by 13 with about the same team at Bama.
I'm not throwing in the towel, I love this team but we are the only blowout of the entire SEC tourney and I'm confident it stays that way. 29pts is an embarrassment to a team you lost to by 5 and 13.
The refs are trash, Bama is good and it's not easy. I get it, but I just wish there'd been a little more fight. Plus how does Carr go 8 of 10 and only play 19mins. Dudes unstoppable inside. I don't know play Remember the Titans or something for them. Just don't lose the first one. Win 2 and you're our heroes. 29 just hurts. That may have cost us a seed line and maybe it should.
I'm never ok with losing but I know the score and throw in SEC refs and I just wanted us to compete. Not sure we did in the 2nd half.
I'm also ready and 100% ok with Pope's 1st technical. Guys getting stitches back to back nights and only a call against us. I love Pope but you gotta fight for your players if you want them to fight. Oweh splashed blood all over the court and got called for his jaw fouling the guy. Chandler had more than Ulis blood coming down and Carr bad back got pummeled to the ground and Pope has the same look.
Maybe even keel wins the day at some point but this bs the past 2 days I wanted him to loose it. I mean some of this was bad I want these refs to at least go oh shit he might not take everything we are gonna cram down his throat.

Yes his 2010 roster was better. He also inherited Patrick Patterson, DeAndre Liggins, Daniel Orton, Josh Harrellson, Ramon Harris and Perry Stevenson. Pope inherited Walker Horn and Grant Darbyshire.
Cal brought Cousins and Wall with him. Bledsoe and Dodson were Memphis bound too. Pope brought Robinson.
The results are yet to be determined. If you remember, we had no business losing to WVU with all that talent. Our 6 first rounders got owned by the current Celtics coach.

Cal lost by 30 at UT in mid-February with a shorthanded team due to injury to the team’s most important player, Nerlens Noel.
UT finished 20-13 that year and lost to Mercer in the first round of the NIT.

I have to believe that you are just joking. Cal had several NBA star players on his first team that he had recruited. How many of those are on this team? Pope had no time to recruit. I thought we would be a bubble team this year if that. Pope far exceeded my expectations even in the face of injuries to key players. I loved Cal when he actually tried to win titles, but he stopped doing that years ago.
Losing by 30 sucks. But given all the injuries and who pope is having to play what else can we expect honestly. A very fun season, with some over achieving moments. He is gonna get a 3 seed with his dang backcourt being injured, that’s pretty remarkable.

I can tell you after a loss all the trolls come out with their fake accounts. I have been tracking this site and after a loss there has been almost 58% more poster on here than after a win, and those posters have all been negative.

I think every fanbase, especially, those that have had teams that dominated a conference for decades have extremely high expectations. Kentucky fans expect to win the SEC and compete yearly for titles. Kentucky fans are accustomed to having the best rosters in the country. Those expectations haven’t changed but the landscape of college basketball has.
The SEC is throwing money at basketball. It was the worse thing that could happen to UK basketball because fans expects to win like they used to. It has completely changed their ability to dominate the conference. The SEC will no longer be dominated by a team. It will be like winning a national title. It is a genuine accomplishment. UK is now in a conference like the old ACC and Big East. All the talent resides there.
Pope is a good coach that had a legit team that was crushed by injuries in the best league since the glory days of the ACC and Big East. To expect them to manage this conference with those injuries is unrealistic.
Fans need to be more realistic in SEC play in this current environment. They are still going to put together great rosters. They still should have high expectations for March. They get the right draw anything can happen.

I agree with you about giving Pope a break, it's year 1 for God's sake. However, I do not agree with you about the fan base at all. THERE IS NO BETTER FAN BASE IN ALL OF COLLEGE BASKETBALL, PERIOD!!!! Nashville will become a ghost town now that KY is out of it.
