Now what's next?

I'm glad Cal is back and common sense prevailed. But now what?

First measure, who's coming back?
Hopefully we can get 3 of (DJ, Reed, Big Z, Bradshaw, and Onyenso) back. If we can get 4. Amazing. If we can get all 5, I might have a seizure.

Next up, what's with the staff?
Can we get Kenny back?

Third, get these kids to work. Fortunately with the class we have coming in, we do have some kids that look like they have the defensive potential. Somto is a beast. And Richmond looks like he can be molded into a Liggins type defender. We need bullies and assholes. I like the nice smiling, happy kids too. But we need players that want to rip your head off. Now whether that's DJ finding his voice. Or Bradshaw hitting the weights and becoming a killer, I don't know what it is. But I want that back.

Hit up the transfer portal too, but it's always hit or miss. For every Reid Travis or Nate Sestina we get, we land a CJ Frederick or Tre Mitchell.

Then let's go get #9 and put the team where it needs it to be.
Yep let’s get Sheppard and a few other main guys back and I’ll be excited again. Looking forward to seeing how the roster shakes out!

Common sense would've prevailed if we FIRED his ass after 9-16. He's the only coach to survive two early exits and missing two tournaments.

After reading this and the Facebook boomers who are all about Cal (idol worship like you’d see with a preacher)- I’d like to hear at what point would you be in support of a getting rid of Cal?

I really want to know this. What’s the measuring stick for you? Honestly? Like tell us where the line in the sand is for you or is there even one?

You do realize it’s gonna be the same jackass “coaching” these players no matter who returns?

Who wants the team to fail? Certainly no one I've seen on this board.

Is that what you do? Create imaginary narratives?

We all want UK to succeed, but unlike you, we will call out Mitch for allowing a coach to steal $9 million a year from this program while driving it off the mountain of greatness.

You think "going along to get along" means you're a good fan. That's hideously disingenuous. You know what Cal is doing is wrong. He's no longer fit for the job. You're not more noble for keeping your mouth shut and going along with it. You actually just help perpetuate Cal's destruction of the program from your place of willing silence.

You want them to fail. That's why you're in here giddy when they lose. Yet never have any clear cut alternatives.

"Fire Cal... he's stealin' "
"Then what?"

I have a feeling you'd write this same statement if Cal came back the next four years and never made it past the first weekend.

Ummmm... no. But we should have a contingency plan in place if we do chose to get rid of our coach and the face of the program. Instead of listening to reactionary fans and media types.

Let’s be realistic. Cal has UConn’s, UH’s, Purdue’s, or any other Sweet 16 roster, the results would be largely the same as UK this year. The man is simply a lazy and uninspired one trick pony basketball coach. The program is at a precipice and is closer to IU than UConn. he has removed all enjoyment from UK basketball.

Yet most of you were dancing in the streets when we were scoring 100 ppg. Got it.

To get rid of him I would prefer we have a plan in place. Unfortunately, we would also have to recalibrate the fanbase to realize we will undoubtedly take 2 steps back before we move forward.

Recruiting classes down the drain.

NBA connections down the drain.

Not completely starting from scratch, but starting from the middle of the pack.

So I guess we wait on the schedule to be finalized and then figure out what mid-major beats us in Rupp next season?

Your first statement reveals that you truly have no idea of what you're talking about on the issue.

I want Kentucky to win every game. I don't care who coaches them, as long as they win. I used to be a huge Calipari supporter. Now I see that he doesn't care about the program like he once did.

If we switched coaches with Oakland we would’ve won that game by 30. Oakland lost three weeks ago by 10 to NKU for fux sake

And if they would've won then he cares about the program. You sound unreasonable and emotional.

Nothing will change with this program as long as Cal is in charge different faces playing each yr but in the end being knocked out of the first second round of the tourneys.

No, but we do have the #2 recruiting class in 2024 along with the major inroads on players for 2025 and 2026.
We have a ton of NBA stars who all have allegiances to Cal.

All of this equals talent in our pipeline. We need talent to win.

Now if it's a matter of retaining talent or preparing the talent differently or supplementing the talent that comes in, then that's the plan.

It's not jettisoning our one strength for the sake of upset disappointed fans for another coach who does not exist.
I don’t disagree that you need talent to win. But Cal’s goal isn’t to win, it’s to get guys drafted. He has admitted as much. His coaching decisions show winning is not his priority. You can have all the talent in the world, but if you’re not committed to winning it won’t matter.

We need a reliable inside scorer, a guy who can get baskets inside that might cause the defense to collapse into the paint creating more opportunities for outside shooters. Would like like to see Reed and Edwards return. I think Edwards could be a great player if he continues to work hard on his game.
Defense has to improve. Hire a defense specialist coach? Hire Tubby as a defense consultant? I remember Billy D at Florida did that during his tenure to improve the gators defense and it seemed to work.

Teams in the Sweet 16 have older talent thanks to the portal. The days of Freshmen leading a team to the Final 4 seem to be over.

Cal always says his philosophy is to take the early losses and build for the NCAA which is really the only tournament that matters. But we have nothing to show for this since he was given his new contract.

When we were in this same position with Tubby he was politely asked to leave by the same AD. So why does Cal deserve more rope than Tubby? The answer is he doesn't.

I agree with a lot of what you said. But if we go back to the Tubby situation, we got rid of him and became considerably worse with BCG. We really need to strategize if we want to make a move so its a lateral one, and not 2 steps back.

All great suggestions.

None that didn't affect every other team in the country. Were we the only ones having to follow COVID protocols? Were we the only team with freshmen? Were we the only team that didn't have personal issues and other struggles?

Wanna try that one again?

We were the only ones relying that heavily on Freshman.

You’re terrible. It’s bad enough that you know absolutely nothing about basketball but then you post stuff like this. You need to worry about yourself instead of other people.

I'm simply responding to the bizarre name calling. Now somehow you're a victim "Woodrow".

But yes, I know nothing about basketball.
