No Fouls on Auburn in the last 9:18

Yes. I agree. I thought we were fouled, clearly, on our last attempts of regulation. I’d like to see how clearly.

Someone talented in posting gifs, full video, or stills please post some of the last two attempts of regulation.

Thanks

Your bigs were getting away with crap all game that the refs called us for. We couldn't breathe on Washington without a whistle, which is why all our bigs were in foul trouble and one fouled out. Not to mention the flops. If they loosened up the latter part of the game, it wasn't for a lack of trying earlier.

Y’all were fouling PJ all game lol. What were you watching? Harper was flopping all over the damn court. That 3 Brown shot where he kicked his legs out sideways. The hell was that? Another flop.

Fix was in. When they wheeled Okeke in as Auburn started to make their “run” I knew it was over. Made for TV BS. We should have kept PJ out until after they wheeled buddy in as a counter chess move. Only partly joking...

I was telling my family, as we were watching... well, they've called 3 or 4 fouls on all their big men, but I wonder if they will actually call the 5th on any of them, and they didn't. I was also saying, with about 7 or 8 minutes to go, "They're done calling fouls on Auburn." And they were. They didn't call another foul on Auburn, despite the fact that we were taking the ball inside on nearly every trip. And that last possession of regulation, we were hacked about 3 or 4 times. They just weren't going to call another foul. It's that simple. And any Auburn fan who thinks differently needs to watch the tape again and take off the blinders.

A wild butthurt moderator appears.

Agree! If anyone has clips or videos, please post them.
Here’s some highlights from the final 5 minutes and overtime:

The crucial UK possession with 20 something seconds left is around the 1:30 mark of the video.

Our guys were getting mugged in the paint with no calls, and therefore could not get the ball to a wide open Tyler Herro on the perimeter.

Hard to believe there’s not plenty of contact on both the pj and kJ attempts, but they must’ve set some kind of record with no fouls for the last 9 minutes of the game. So I guess anything is believable.

I am re-linking this with it cued to 26.8 seconds remaining.

After watching the players get mugged, watch it again and look at the UK coaches' expressions.

Some times during tournament time it's not bad to get in early foul trouble as long as it's not your stars. Referees don't want to foul out starters in the tournament and early foul trouble ends up a lose whistle down the stretch because of it. Little guards are protected in all levels of basketball. Ullis was when he was here .

Kentucky was called for 0 fouls in the first 8 minutes of the game.
In the last 14:51 Kentucky was called for 3 fouls (4 for Auburn), 2 of which were in the last 9:18 in question and neither of which led to Auburn points. I think the refs just swallowed their whistles for big chunks of the game, inconsistency is the name of the game with college refs.

After watching a few times I'm not certain either PJ or KJ got fouled on the two blocks . What sucked was how easily the Auburn guard blew by tyler going to his strong hand and shot an easy layup to make it 60-60 . Why not over play SLIGHTLY and force the guy to the left ????

I would have been ok with the lack of calls from their hacking and slapping and holding if the refs didn't give harper 3-4 phantom touch fouls.

If memory serves me correct he drove in the lane and pushed off of Reid, flopped to the ground and Reid was whistled for the foul. That one may have been in the 1st half. Had he not pushed off there would have been no contact at all. What was even worse was Spanarkal defended the call saying there was contact....well yeah it was the offensive player pushing off with his off hand.

That one was really annoying. Another one was a no-call when he hooked the heck out of Herro towards the end of the second half and threw up an awkward angle layup that went in. Herro played perfect defense and got hooked and it ended up being 2 points for them instead of a foul and UK ball.

The very last play of OT when we were down 4 and KJ got blocked. After the block, KJ and the AU guard went after the ball. Looked like KJ went straight up and the AU player jumped into him. The foul was called on KJ. I still don't see how that could've possibly been a foul on him. Thoughts?

Well...the refs called so many on Auburn in the first half, if they continued to call them then Auburn would have to put in their team managers.

Outside of UK fans, everyone else is talking about how UK was kept in the game by the refs calling phantom fouls on Auburn. It's crazy how everyone sees what they want to see.

It was a great game, Auburn was just better.
Auburn was better at the free throw line and better at not getting fouls called against them.

The refs and scorekeeper kept changing/moving who the fouls were actually on. This happened several times throughout the game. The announcers pointed it out at least once, maybe even twice. IIRC, they said the had never seen calls be changed/moved around as much as the did in that UK-AU game last week.

Can anyone check out this last play? Lol

Final Four
Auburn vs. Virginia
62-63

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/playbyplay?gameId=401123375

from 7:44, there were
4 fouls on Auburn (3 in final 5 seconds. Prior to 2:17, Auburn’s previous foul was at 10:17)
7 fouls on Virginia

Numerous Threads are devoted to this game. The infamous double dribble no call should have given possession to Auburn. It wasn’t and they were called for a foul on a 3 point play in the final second. All free throws were made by VA to seal the win.

I truly feel terrible for Auburn and the way it ended, but the fact remains they somehow kept advancing due to no calls. The Florida game in the SEC Tournament where they got away with fouling on a 3 pointer and won. Our Elite Eight where they were not called for a single foul in the final 9:17 of regulation in a game that went to overtime. Only to ironically lose a chance for the championship because there was a blown call, right in front of Keith Kimble’s eyes (a la 2017 UK vs UNC), before an unfortunate correct one that decided the game. You can look at all their stats throughout this Thread and see that going the final stretch in a tight game with zero fouls simply doesn’t happen. I am convinced, despite our poor free throw shooting, had just one foul been called in the act of shooting during that span, it would have been UK in the Final Four.

I remember seeing 3 Auburn players with 4 fouls each with over 12 minutes in regulation on the TV screen. Not one of them fouled out before the OT. I can’t recall ever seeing this happen before.
Me neither. The stats throughout this Thread also show that it didn't happen in any of Auburn's SEC or NCAA tournament games, nor did it happen in any other Elite Eight this year. Usually in a game that goes to overtime, there are fouls, and that is usually the case with Auburn even. I do wonder what the "no fouls called" record is in the final minutes of a game and I would imagine this one ranks right up there. Clearly, the refs were not willing to foul out the Auburn players.

If memory serves (and I was in Gulf Shores after a full day of drinking), Tyler was hooked several times on drives to the rim. I don’t remember if it was that drive in particular, but several replays show a blatant hook with his off hand.

You’re trying to make sense, out of nonsense. Sports are basically a “reality show” casino game.
