Not sure they tap Kiffin but if they do can you imagine what the portal is going to look like?
Dang! I'm old enough to remember Bear's last seasons. Was he better than him? I think so. Probably the best coach in my lifetime. They probably throw the vault at Kiffin. Guys a heck of a coach.
His win over uk wasn’t a large enough margin. It was more than he could take
I suspect one factor is that with the portal and NIL it is becoming somewhat harder for the elite teams to keep their rosters together. At his age he's probably thinking "why should I deal with all this"
Whoever replaces him better have their big boy pants on because that fan base is gonna have high expectations.
Good for him...get out and enjoy life. Greatest college football coach ever. Lane Kiffin has got to be their first choice. That's not a bad thing for UK. Cats will always struggle to beat Bama, but Ole Miss is no guarantee to always be a tough out. Plus, if Kiffin goes and some of those Ole Miss guys leave...makes out game with them next year a little more winnable.
Bama fans probably losing their minds. Not going to be easy to replace.
They should look at Kenny Payne

Surprised but not surprised. He had an unbelievable run at Bama and they're still playing at a high level. No reason to watch it slip into oblivion. For a long time I thought Dabo was the heir apparent but Kiffin would be a heckuva choice. Would Kirby leave GA - doubt it. Mike Norvell at FSU? Sark? Not many who I can think of who'd want to follow in Saban's wake, understandably. Interesting to speculate.
The word is Dan Lanning at Oregon is the number one candidate.
Kiffin in my mind would be the call.

Dabo isn't down with NIL and that's going to hurt his chances. Getting Kirby would be a coup but Georgia will fight like he'll to keep him.
Not totally surprised by this, with the NIL and transfer portal, I don’t think Saban wanted to spend much more time in the circus.
Saban got out before the real Ncaa football TOURNAMENT starts next year. All before dont mean jack. The first true 🏆 willbe decided next year and it wont be BAMA
Kirby’s a Georgia guy he’s not going anywhere. He pretty much has UGA challenging Bama’s throne at this point. He’s proven he can accomplish just as much right where he is. And if Bama botched this hire, hell, even if they don’t, this change signals the superiority change in the SEC.

He knows Milroe can't win a NC and likes him so rather than recruit over him, he's bowiing out. Just my initial take.
Rick Barnes and Mark Stoops have removed their names from consideration.
I doubt it has anything to do with Milroe and his inability to win a championship.
No, but if they hired Franklin or Norvell, either Penn St. or Florida St. might try to.
I just read that on ESPN. Crazy. His career record is ridiculous. Best coach ever IMO.
