NFL Draft

Looking at the second round, Seattle has an early pick as well as Tennessee. He has to think it suks but his name will be called tomorrow with them teams picking early also Saints at 10th.
He’s lost a ton, yeah he will be happy but not after that debacle and money lost. I hope he has a chip on his shoulder and shows that he was indeed worth the first round pick. Maybe prove some of our fans wrong too.

The strength of this draft is coming up. Would have been a great draft to trade down in.

I don’t get that..to me almost all the guys drafted tonight were cocky..crazy suits, gold chains, etc.

Yeah not buying it. All these guys drafted exhibit arrogance cockiness confidence or whatever you want to label it. From what I saw, Will was an outstanding rep for UK and a high character guy.

Maybe there’s something to the nagging toe injury, maybe not.

Most likely it’s film they watched. He made a lot of bad decisions in game this past season. Holding the ball too long, struggling with progressions, bad INTs etc. the UT game with 3 picks and less than 100 yds vs a very poor pass D (110th?) had to be a game they all watched. Not playing in the bowl game was prob the right call for him vs Iowa defense to avoid another potential bad showing but the GMs prob picked up on that.

Was a rough night for him, but he will get his chance. Time will tell if teams were right or not about him.

We're on the clock and fielding calls. Thx Bears.

_______________
The Steelers committed highway robbery when they sent wide receiver Chase Claypool to the Bears before the NFL trade deadline.

Pittsburgh got Chicago’s second-round pick in the deal, and that proves to be the 32nd overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft.

After a once-in-a-decade type draft for the Jets last year.. they kind of fumbled it this go around. I don't think they were prepared enough when they moved back from 13th to 15th, when the Pats traded their pick and the last great Tackle was taken. LB wasnt a huge need, but I guess it doesn't hurt to make some of your football units elite.

Anyone got some thoughts on this McDonald guy?

So what’s the deal? Did the NFL drag Will there just to embarrass him?
I think that a lot was maybe misdirection or one of the teams like the Colts decided on AR instead and it screwed him based on most other teams needs. They said his toe may not be 100% now so that could be the cause too.

This is why “draft experts” are a joke to me. From PFF:

R1 (4) INDIANAPOLIS COLTS: QB ANTHONY RICHARDSON, FLORIDA

Pick Grade: Very Good

The Colts stayed at No. 4 and took a big swing on Richardson's high ceiling. While he was inconsistent as a passer, he is arguably the most incredible athlete at the quarterback position we have ever seen, as he forced 39 missed tackles in 2022.

And then, also from PFF:

R1 (7) LAS VEGAS RAIDERS: EDGE TYREE WILSON, TEXAS TECH

Pick Grade: Below Average

Wilson looks like he was built in a pass-rushing lab, so it’s not a shock to see him go in the top 10. That said, he ranked just 28th on the PFF big board because the consistency just wasn’t there in college. His 75.1 PFF grade last season was the highest of his career.

So Richardson is a very good pick because he’s the best athlete we’ve ever seen at QB, but Wilson is a below average pick because the consistency just wasn’t there in college?

I'm a regular Joe sitting on the couch but I love football. I have an eye for QBs and there wasn't a QB in this draft worth a 1st round pick. Young is talented but he's DOA in the NFL. Balls get batted down and the best athletes in the world are zeroing in on you from all directions with bad intentions. I would fire any scout that came to me and recommended I use the 1st pick in the NFL draft on a 5'10 185lb QB without even bothering to look at the film.

Stroud is the only QB I would have considered drafting in the 1st round in this entire draft. Whoever is talking to Levis needs to tell him to relax and call Aaron Rodgers. His time may not be now but if he works his arse off he has as good a shot in the NFL as any of the rest of them and he'll get a shot at making a killing in that 2nd contract if he does. No worries, Will.

Evidently the Titans tried to trade into the first round to get Levis but the asking price was too high. So it was a team that definitely wanted Levis.
Good place to learn with a very strong running game. The play action will always be there. He'll get his shot. Tannehill is getting older (34) and missed some games last year on IR.

Steelers take Joey Porter
I knew that was coming. He'll pick us off twice a year for the next 10 years just because I wanted the Bengals to take him.

I was just getting ready to post that I hoped c Joe Tippmann would fall to us at 60 or wherever the hell we're picking at and the Jets hoped up and snatched him earlier than projected. I give up on trying to figure this draft out as it seems like EVERYONE was way off this year.

The value was so high that Cincinnati should have traded up to take Julius Brents or Brian Branch . That Indy and Detroit back to back picks are the best one of the 2nd round and we needed that guy. Not sure what we'll get now but a great CB to add in to our secondary while those Big Dogs eat up front would have been very nice.

Not many holes in Cincy so this entire draft they might be picking the BPA. But I'd bet they get a S and RB at some point or get back to free agency for insurance.

Depth. I'd like to beef up the secondary this round or the offensive line. I'm still pissed about losing a game last year because we couldn't snap the football so Tippmann was a guy I was interested in if he slipped just a little bit but instead he got taken a little early.

RB I am more comfortable taking later than CB but we'll see how it all plays out.

The pick makes a lot of sense for what Cincinnati is doing in that secondary which is basically making it as fast as they can get their hands on. Going to compliment the big guys up front doing damage. I can't wait for the season to start. If we stay healthy we're going to be a handful even with the whole AFC loaded.
