Netflix “Wrestlers”

I thought it was awesome. I don't normally binge watch things but I did binge watch that. The incident in episode 3 was scary and I agree with the previous poster who said kudos to MJ if he had the opportunity to remove that but didn't. I fell in love with Matt's mom. She seems to be the absolute sweetest lady and I wanted more of her.

Also, Gracie stole the show. We need a spin off of just her. On one of his radio shows, MJ asked who would be a star from the secondary characters. MJ thought his mom would be and I agree she was. Gracie was the brightest secondary star to me. She was awesome.
I didn’t think that Matt’s mom was really featured all that much. Other than the one episode where she does the sit down, which was really very short, she seemed more in the background. Obviously they used her to soften Matt’s image after the first couple of episodes.

She was in it about as much as I expected her to be.

I can't tell with these series which themes or storylines are concocted, exaggerated or result of good editing. Love the local angle of it. When I was a kid in 90's, I'd watch WCW, WWE, OVW, ECW. I was obsessed with wrestling. I'd guess that era was the peak for wrestling in general. Watching this though, 1) I really can't get into wrestling. I want to. I just can't. 2) Im somewhat skeptical there is a market for regional wrestling circuits in 2023.

Your wrong! Regional circuits are a sign of health in wrestling. For all the things WWE did right destroying territories wasn’t one of them because it killed local interest.

Also WWE used OVW like a springboard into their company but instead of keeping it in place and healthy they tried to kill it by creating NXT to hopefully do the same thing.

However what they did was hurt one of the hotbeds in wrestling in KY. My whole life every brand kept 1-2 shows here and Memphis came to louisville weekly and sold out and hit other cities too. I can’t remember who it was then that competed with Memphis here locally but I think it was called ICW ran by the Poffos.

This area is responsible for a lot of wrestling success so it can be rebuilt if they can figure it out the interest is here!

Am I the only one that thinks portraying Al Snow as a legend is a bit of a stretch?

They want you to believe he had the popularity of Hulk Hogan with the workrate of Shawn Michaels.

He's like a lot of those ECW guys back in the day. They had huge followings in the north east with almost an legendary type of reputation, but it didn't translate as much to WWE / WCW.

Look, I get some of you have your man crush on MJ and worship everything he says cause you and him grew up together right here on catpaw. But when you suck you suck. Him and his ego are the worst thing to ever happen to UK athletics, his cult is just too dumb to realize it.
Your obsession with everything Matt Jones is unhealthy. It is borderline scary at this point.

Wrong. I just see through his fakeness. And funny you should say that because on the topic of ksr/wrestling/scary, the every day caller Andy, whom they promote and celebrate for personal benefit, has a legit scary obsession with Haley J and Haley Harmon. So cringe, just like almost everything KSR.

For the record an obsession held by someone else doesn’t excuse you for yours. Both can be and are unhealthy.

I understand. I may have phrased that incorrectly. She has the look that a lot of wrestling fans tend to enjoy looking at. Even that may sound condescending. I don't mean it that way. Hell, Chyna was a big star in the late 90's and Rhea Ripley is probably the biggest female star since Chyna that didn't have famous father. So who knows who will break out and make it big? I'm just saying that typically, the female wrestlers that tend to get opportunities are young, often blonde, are aggressive, tend to be kinda skinny, and have a face that isn't offensive to look at. :)
Oh God. I r forgot about that thing, Chyna. Lol

There are still tons of small wrestling companies all over the country. Most are tiny and just for fun. Like I can think of 5 in KY or southern Indiana that are active right now. The guys in Lawrenceburg that brought in Rikishi to be ‘the commissioner’ more than likely know full well they’ll never make much money if any, just fun to meet thr wrestlers and put the show on.

There are a handful that have a ‘big’ following. Pro Wrestling Guerilla in California and Defy in Seattle are doing big things and GCW is starting to tour nationally.

The beauty of the industry now is that if you don’t care for WWE or AEW; go on the Internet and there are about a billion promotions out there streaming. There’s a niche for just about anyone now.

The issue is that you are an individual hiding behind a username acting like a hoe. Let that anger go lil bro. He's a character. It shouldn't make you this angry.

Lol

I used to party HARD with Jules. Talk about a character. I’ll never forget him driving us in a damn Honda Civic one night. Dude was damn near driving from the backseat, it was hilarious to watch.

Actually lil bro, Matt is the hoe for doing things like planting fake callers just like the last one on today’s show and brainwashing good Kentuckians into thinking he means well and actually cares about you all. Lmao

Lol, you think he’s fake but you listen to every word. Smh
Yes, because as I’ve stated before, I have to listen every day. Much easier to see the fakeness and total cluelessness of listeners when you’re not a fan boy/listen from an unbiased pov.

Look lil buddy I get that the thought of him gets your little dingaling hard I'm just saying the rest of us don't care about your obsession with him. No one is worried about him caring about us except for you. Stop letting another grown man dictate your emotions.

When people feel like they are entitled to have an opinion on someone's life that isn't their own that's when things get weird. You are here talking shit about someone who doesn't know you exist because you think you have their entire persona figured out. It requires very little effort to not be a complete low life weirdo. Get a life little buddy. Learn to behave like an adult. Running around bitching and moaning over your feelings getting hurt isn't going to get your ass anywhere.

Keep your heads buried in the sand and keep supporting his belief that he is larger than Kentucky basketball itself, your choice lol. It’s almost like he’s trying to be a politician or something he has you all fooled so badly!

No one is ****ing talking about Kentucky basketball. Its basketball, not real life. That shit is not important in the grand scheme of things. Stop being a weirdo. Him being critical of your favorite team isn't the end all be all. If some sports talk radio bullshit gets you this worked up you might need to give up sports.

Goofy ass little kids man......"he thinks he's bigger than UK basketball derp derp"

Who cares?! Its an opinion and you know what they say about opinions.

Watching E 1 now - her texting then sparking a blunt while driving makes me hope I never share a street with her.
You share streets with 60% people texting/on the phone while driving.

Around 300,000 drivers are under the influence of just alcohol per day as well.

Just defensive drive because you have no choice to not be on the road with people under the influence and on the phone.

Plus, it’s weed maaaaaaaan. I’ve never been high driving and thought man I can’t do this I’m too high.

I normally just stay away from people on the road and while everyone is aggressive I just let people go where they want to go because the longer you drive around someone the more likely you are to get in an accident.

Fair enough. Just wanted to make sure the people who actually know, know.

It doesn’t help that damn near every wrestler thinks they are the best and if they aren’t on top it’s only because ‘someone is holding me back 😭’ despite the fact they can’t work or speak for shit.

I think Lance Storm is one of the very few wrestlers I’ve heard just flat out say ‘no, I should have never been champ. It’d have been terrible.’ He will flat out say ‘my promos weren’t good enough and I was too short’.

The Rock comes across as humble about wrestling sometimes. I’m sure it’s a lot of false modesty, but despite calling himself ‘the most electrifying’ he’ll be the first to credit other wrestlers for helping him and working with him. And he never seemed to have a problem putting someone over if he knew it would help the product as a whole.

The Rock will also always put Austin ahead of him historically. Wrestlers in general are normall weird people.
