NASCAR thread

Seems as though some big announcements are happening today. We already know one will be Josh Berry to the 4.

I’ve seen some ideas thrown out that maybe Tony is selling his stake in SHR to Jr and SHR switching to Chevy. Probably a long shot scenario. But we know Jr really wants to go cup racing, just waiting for the right price with charters being pricy.

We probably will never know for certain but there must have been some sort of mental health issue for her to kill her grandson as well. That is more than a domestic dispute.

Watching both Xfinity & Cup Series qualifying and practice sessions, they need to allow more testing at these new road courses/street races. If it isn't Watkins Glen or Sonoma, they just turn into wreck fests and for the experienced drivers too. Elliott & Harvick already damage so far. Some contenders in the Xfinity Series earlier too.

Never even got a chance to get the Xfinity race going before an unprecedented move to call the race. Cole Custer the winner. Could not care less if NASCAR ever came back here again. If they're dead set on a street race, do the Nashville one. Maybe there would be better weather, who knows. Can't say I'm shocked this weekend has been a disaster to this point.

Too many road courses as is. This is not F1 or IMSA. Go back to Chicagoland if they really want to be in the market so bad and not have to worry about shutting down the city any longer for the street course configuration. This should never be a factor in determining the outcome of a race. Chicagoland had some good races like Larson & Busch battling it out to the end in 2018. As much hell as the cookie cutter tracks get, that race and the following year Kurt & Kyle at Kentucky are 2 of the better races in the past decade.

Likely never going back to them and these races here to stay.

What are you watching race on? Wlex on YouTube tv is still airing weather instead of race.
It's on WAVE 3 NBC in the Louisville market and had it on the NBC Sports app earlier due to the weather. Still on there if you can sign in with your provider.

I guess it’s not technically a ringer if you go to the trouble of creating a team specifically for drivers to come in and challenge.

The dude is a hell of a talent but the fawning over him is already nauseating. He led the last 9 laps against two cars with 16 lap older tires lol

Trackhouse Racing sucks

I like the mystique of trying something different like a street race but many of these drivers, especially the veterans need all of the testing and practice sessions they can get.

Haven’t been to a race in 6 years. If nascar goes back to this next year, I’ll be there. Such a cool event. Even if the rain ruined some of the planned entertainment.

I agree that road course racing sucks. I don't want to watch a lap that takes 2 minutes and only has 2-3 opportunities to pass during that 2 minute lap. There are 8 road course races out of the 36 races. That is just too many when they have opportunities to race other places that would be better racing. Either way NASCAR needs to listen to the drivers and give them more horsepower and tires that wear out making the car difficult to drive to improve racing and make passing possible. Right now the car that is in the lead has such a huge advantage that the pit crew is more important than anything else.

From TV, I liked it. I could see that in-person seeing so little wouldn't be fun. But feel the same with F1, probably more so since there is no effort to even out the competition.

As for older tires, meh. It's all about choices. Do enjoy a degree of randomness vs. best car/driver winning.

I think Charlotte Roval is best as well as short tracks because of the road race style & being able to view a lot from one spot. Ss-ways are the worst for me.

Thing is the who knows who the "best car" is. A car can dominate the first 100 laps, have a huge lead, come into the pits during a caution, leave in 5th place and can't get back to the lead because of dirty air. On the flip side a guy who has ran 15th all day can take 2 tires during a stop, come out with the lead and then run away from everyone. So the best pit crew is just as important as the driver a lot of times.

Think it has more to do with the actual individual then the color of his skin.
I watch every other sport that has black athletes why would I care what color a driver is? I don't like him because he is a jerk just like I don't like Kyle Bush because he is also a jerk.

He’s not wrong, but not to the extent that he believes it to be. There are always going to be bigots and racists in all walks of life. If he would celebrate diversity instead of attacking the very small minority of jackasses who can’t/won’t change, it might help him not be so hated in the first place.

For the record, I don’t necessarily think this applies to every situation outside of NASCAR. He’s just overdoing it so much.

I don't like him playing the victim all the time. He makes snide remarks about fans, wrecks the popular drivers, and a lot of other stuff that guys who want to be the NASCAR villain does but then plays the victim and says it's because of race. No it's because you are a douchebag. Even his own boss Hamlin says on his podcast that he wishes Bubba would just shut up sometimes. Thing is with Jordan being a part owner in the team he could and would have a lot of fans but he is just so unlikeable most of the time.

What was the weather like all day in Hampton, GA? Fed up of getting short changed by the distance of races because NASCAR wants to start late and not run well into the mid-morning hours. So much for the days of a 1:00 clock afternoon start on the east coast at tracks like Atlanta Motor Speedway.

That was a clown show, they had like 30 minutes pre-rain where they just safety car'd around and around for no reason, just waiting for the rain. That could have been a great 30 minutes of racing, Keselowski and Blaney were charging back to the front.

Why they started the Chicago race at 5:30 knowing if it got dark they wouldn't be able to run was beyond me. I don't mind night races but do them on Saturday and if a track doesn't have lights start them at 1:00 in case their are delays. NASCAR is being ran by idiots right now.
