NASCAR thread

The Fox broadcast is hot garbage, the racing is terrible, this next gen car is dangerous and shouldn't even be on the track, racing on dirt at Bristol just isn't what they expected it to be and yet they still keep doing it and the list goes on and on. Right now NASCAR should fire every top executive they have because they are on a downward spiral that is going to end up with them going under.
Agree with this. I am typically on the other side of this argument. But this new car has been a disaster so far.

The car was meant to save teams a bunch of money. It simply has not, teams are still spending just as much as they were on the car before.

You would think each generation of car would get safer. This car is not as safe as the last.

This car was suppose to help fix the racing. It has not. Short track product is absolute garbage, and the speedway product really isn’t that much better. These cars still have a big issue with getting aero tight.

The parts have been shit that are supplied to the teams.

The list goes on and on. I think the biggest issue is the safety of this car just doesn’t seem to be up to par with the last generation. NASCAR put a lot of money to develop this car and so far it doesn’t seem to be paying off.

NASCAR developed a road racing car for an oval racing series and it just too easy to drive for these guys.

I have to wonder if they new Garage 56 car that Hendrick is putting into the 24 hour of Lemans is going to replace this gen. NASCAR seems to have some sort of vested interest in it for some reason. I also found it interesting that according to Denney Hamlin's podcast none of the other teams knew NASCAR was partnering with Hendrick on this car until the public announcement and it seemed by his comments that the other teams were salty about the fact they were left out. He even said they had team meetings with NASCAR the day before the announcement and NASCAR said nothing about it.

Still always going to be one of the biggest mysteries to me abruptly retiring and have heard many of the various rumors/theories out there. Particularly the phantom caution one which is where I stand. Then the ones that say he was paid off by someone rich connected to Suarez to get the #19 ride or wanting to run for public office.

Edwards been away too long and in the retirement age of 43 had he still been racing plus the Gen-7 car not too many are thrilled with.

Someone wrap William Byron in pillows and bubble wrap and lock him in his RV.

And make sure Larson isn’t playing video racing anymore with his microphone on.

At some point Hendrick is going to be like a lot of other owners and say these guys can't compete in other forms of racing. Of course Chase wasn't racing when he broke his leg.

It was a long standing policy of HMS until Kyle Larson came around and relaxed his stance because having Kyle in the organization made them stronger, keeping Kyle happy allowing him to drive sprint cards keeps their morale up throughout the course of a season doing things they love outside of NASCAR. Chase was a freak accident.

NASCAR moving the start time for Dover up to 1 PM with the weather in the area. Need to start moving races up to early afternoon like the old days for situations like this and tracks that don't have the proper lights to run in the dark.

Don't want to see a change either. Larson's already committed to running the 2024 Indy 500 for McLaren Racing. Hope he tops Kurt Busch's 6th place in 2014.

That dude isn't going to have a friend left on the track. I get being aggressive going for a win but to wreck a lap car 80 laps into a 400 lap race is stupid and there are only so many apologies before these guys just start plowing into him.

Agree. Eventually someone is going to have enough and this needs to start happening to him to get the message. I gained a lot of respect for Chastain trying to win at all cost with the Martinsville wall ride to make the championship 4 but lose much of it with him plowing through the competitors in stage 1 ending their day and he gets to race for the win is a joke.

Never thought I'd see Petty & the #43 in Toyota. May be one of the reasons he feels slighted since merging organizations with less of a controlling interest than ever before in his team.

Wonder if Rick Ware will try to get him in any of the NASCAR road courses while they have to fill the ride?

Gragson and that damn Moe Howard haircut.

Only thing worse than trying to make a point on national TV and getting punched in the face is doing all that with that haircut. [laughing]

I have listened to the first half of Denny's podcast and so far he addressed several things none of which had anything to do with the contact between him and Larson. not one peep. I do have to admit that I'm not really holding my breath he will take responsibility and admit he had to wreck Larson to win though.

Why would he do that when NASCAR just fined and docked him points for admitting to wrecking a guy a couple weeks ago?

I don't expect anyone to admit to intentionally wrecking anyone after his fine but halfway through they hadn't even brought it up that there was contact. I listened to the rest and he did talk about it later in the show but said he just slightly made contact because he was trying to force Larson close to the wall and didn't realize he was already into the wall and couldn't go any further. He said it was so slight he didn't even realize he had touched him.

JMO but hate the charter system. Would love to see more teams show up on race weekend, qualify their way into the race on speed and have teams like JR Motorsports be able to afford to join the Cup Series. The costs of a charter are ridiculous. Rick Ware Racing used to have 4 in 2021 and couldn't even run full-time with them all. I get why team owners want it, just not a fan with the system and the impact on smaller teams in the sport.
