Interesting point. I grew up with two brothers, one born after I turned 18. I believe parenting plays a major role. Our strong-willed mother instilled respect in us for the opposite sex.

That is a good point. And I would add domestic abuse in there as well.
On both issues I think MOST of it has to do with parenting. I grew up with no sisters...but BOTH of my parents taught me and my brother to respect women.
Some of it has to do with society, status mentality (a little power goes a long way with regards to behavior) and/or work culture. Although I have always thought those types of excuses are just cop outs. Because in the end it all comes down to individual character. Doesn't matter what everyone else is doing or the fact that you can get away with something. It comes down to your morals and values. Which start with how you were raised. But continue with what kind of man you want to be. Starts with the parenting but individual responsibility takes over regardless of upbringing.
