N.O.B.

Oh Altuve amazes me. At 5’6”, he’s basically me minus about 100 lbs haha. He reminds me my stature isn’t what kept me from playing pro ball — rather it was more my lack of world-class talent combined with a shitty work ethic.
Good stuff! I hear ya. I was more of a track and field kid way back when. Hence the D-2 and NAIA offers while in high school. Still rocking during these later years while I'm realistically overweight.

Little brother played a couple years for ATL Braves minor leagues farm teams. He still kicks himself in the ass. 6'2" 240 back then.

never liked baseball - scared me more than any other sport as a kid
(long story)

but I'm working with 2 guys that LOVE them some Diamondbacks and Yankees

They've been explaining that insufferable sport to me and I"ve been pulling against their teams and generally complaining about "THE FIX BEING IN" and "BAD STRIKE ZONE CALLS"

they still love me though

I’m coming in on Friday with my son, brother and two nephews for Wahlcate Foosbawl, Keeneland and drivin out to Highbridge.

Of course the weather is gonna suck.
Damn. This weekend would have been perfect. Hopefully the weather is OK for you and your crew. Should be a good time either way. Make the most of it and such. Good lesson for your son. Ah eff that noise...hope the weather is nice for ya, man.

With the evidence stated in the post above entered as proof of worth...I make a double motion to make castlewyvernrubric a permanent honorary member of the NOB and to induct him into the Good Guys Hating Insufferable Fandomhood HOF.

As a long suffering but paying member in good standing of the GGHIF let me be the first to say, "Welcome aboard, brother!"

Oh sure, pussboi Cam Newton can pile up the points when things are going well, but when you need tough points the motherf..ker serves up two interceptions.

Hey Cammie, you gonna break out that Harry Potter costume for today’s postgame presser? You bitch.

Post. That's it. That's your only duty.

Would be nice if your contributing posts were funny, entertaining, and/or at least interesting on occasion...but one look around this joint will tell you that being funny or interesting certainly isn't a requirement for inclusion.

So - two baseball dudes and me sitting in a bar two nights ago

And while I don't liek baseball = I remember a lot of players from when I was a kid and I wanted to see what they thought about them

I'd like to hear the same from you folks

1) Fernando Valenzuela
2) George Brett
3) Billy Martin / Manager
4) Wade Boggs
5) Kirby Puckett
6) Cecil Fielder?

1) weird wind up and delivery complete with lizard like eye rolling technique that added at least 10mph to his speedball. Decent hitter for a MLB pitcher.
2) Hemroids and pine tar
3) Hired by Steinbrenner to manage the deplorable Yanks...kicked some dirt on a few umpires...fired...hired again so he could kick some more dirt on a few more umpires...fired again. Played for the A's I think and even managed them for a minute or two???
4) Helped beat the Yankees a few times and that's all that really matters. Never won a WS.
5) Great hitter for the Twins. Won two WS rings including going from worst to first in early 90-something. Died shortly after HOF induction?
6) Fat boy. Hit a bunch of dingers...or struck out. Not much in between. Jr played in the show as well.

1.) Best 47 year old rookie in MLB history
2.) Was hitting guru Charlie Lau’s gay lover during the mid-70s and early 80s
3.) Fiesty, and the third, fifth, sixth, ninth, fourteenth, and twenty-second greatest manager in Yankees history.
4.) A chicken-eating hit machine with a top-3 porn ‘stache and a penchant for ugly whores
5.) Glaucoma hampered his sexual assault game in his final years, but in his prime he could harass with the best of ‘em
6.) Tipping the scales at a svelte 419 pounds, Fielder is the only player in history to hit 50+ HRs with a body fat % of 50+

Looking at Judge/Altuve on field - dominating the AL with completely different physical body types... got me thinking...

Who’s your favorite tiny (dominating) big guy/small guy in NBA?

I got :

Kareem
Iverson

don't know about Boggs, but had a buddy tell me about a Mexican guy at happy hour $1 beers at O'Charleys on Nich rd who drank 72 beers. Watress showed my buddy his receipt. Said it happened. Had to kick him out.
dude was fillin up the log of tuna cans.

Muggsy was indeed tiny, but he wasn’t dominating the floor.

Maybe Isaiah?
Isaiah is a great choice. I'd say either him or Nate Archibald -- the only person ever to lead the NBA in scoring and assists in the same year.
