UK softball 2025 thread

Watched 4 games in Clearwater this weekend . Fun team , I like the players but the roster has some big holes . Need a shut down hard thrower and a bigger run producer somewhere in the lineup .. just an opinion but might be Coach Lawsons weakest roster in the past few years . Large % of teams have a #1 throwing way harder than anyone we have . Speed isn’t everything but it’s hard to survive at 60-62 in the SEC .
Hopefully some fast pitch lovers out there to keep some discussion going on for our Lady Cats . Rough weekend , we didn’t generate much Offense outside the Clemson game and we nearly blew a late 4 run lead in that contest .

I think Abby Hammond coming in next year will help with the hard throwing.

Also, if coach lawsons media day stuff is accurate it may take a minute to get the team she wants on the field and comfortable in their roles. Sounded like maybe she’d allowed some less enthusiastic players to hold serve due to their age.

Eastern looks to be having a good year too. My one gripe is my kids love Duke Softball. I have objected.

My small college ( I coached) played eastern in the fall several years back , was happy we hung with them .

Didn’t follow the games closely at all but a decent weekend at best , lost to a mid major in the first game Friday scoring only 1 run , got 3 wins over middling competition . Hopefully the girls continue meshing and getting better , seems like a very young inexperienced team .

Hometown softball this weekend Friday at WKU VS Evansville at 11am and WKU at 4 . Sat vs Tn Tech and WKU . Sunday VS evansville again . ON PAPER should be 5 wins . Hopefully western ky weather is good .

Big Blue gives up a 7 spot in the first and falls 7-5 in a loss to Evansville at WKU today

In game 2 came from behind in the 7th inning to plate 3 runs and get a 7-5 win over host WKU .

Not the most impressive showing I’m sad to report .

Got a 1 run win over someone in the last game of the DH ? Or the the only game Sunday , anyway a 4-3 win over someone . Tenn tech or Evansville

Took the series against #20 Ole Miss this past weekend. Dropped one yesterday to Stanford. #14 Arkansas in Fayetteville this weekend. 21-12 overall.

Game 1 vs Ole Miss was exciting. Hallie Mitchell hit 2 HRs, also a walk-off three-run home run.

My kids play on high school team with six players any team would have and play and 3-5 more that are not bad at all. And yet, they suck. Sometimes there’s bad dynamics, bad runs, bad luck and sometimes just bad juju. UK needs to double down on sourcing the issue and working on it. God knows my kids team does. But the coaches at my kids school make next to nothing and we get what has been paid for.

Lawson is smart and will get it fixed.

Mediocrity will set up housekeeping the minute you let it in the door, though.
