Memory Lane trip to the dentist

Just watched UK vs Cornell in 2010 tourney. Cats with a very ragged 62-45 win.

It was a harbinger of the WVU game. We all remember how poorly the Cats shot in that game. What I didn’t remember was how poorly they shot against Cornell or that in fact there really wasn’t an outside shooter on that team.

Miscellaneous minutiae from the game. Announcer was the great Dick Enberg who was on the decline. Color by Bilas while his head would still fit thru a doorway.

Rooferee on the whistle but game not close enough for him to make a difference.

Former Cat Mark Khoury played for Cornell. Edit: Coury

Brought back a name I hadn’t thot of since, Ramon Harris.

Jorts played just the last few seconds and would become a force the next year.

Dozed off during second half.

Remember watching that game at my Mamaw's house in Breathhitt. I need to move there cause UK wins a lot when I go there, lol.

But didn’t Eric Bledsoe hit like 6 or 7 3 pointers in the 1st round? What happened between that game and the West Virginia game? Heck, when he got to the NBA, Patrick Patterson was a knock down 3 point shooter. Too bad Cal didn’t let him shoot more in that game.:D

What happened at the dentist?

Went ahead and watched the WVU game. Cornell was a filling WVU was a root canal on every tooth at the same time.

Maybe you know the answer to this. Dodson did not play against Cornell but quite a few minutes in the WVU game after it was apparent no one could hit a three. Was Dodson not available against Cornell.

I think he went 8-9 from the three in that first round. Then in Syracuse, we combined to go 6-54 from three, include 28 straight misses. Yikes.

If you look up the box score, he logged 1 minute against Cornell. My guess would be because Cal trims the rotation when the tournament starts but against WVU he had to try anybody he thought might hit a shot.

OK thanks. Cal did empty the bench in the last minute but they didn’t identify who came in. Recognized Jorts but no one else.

So Cal doesn’t play him in a game well in hand but then thrusts him into the game with the pressure on desperately needing threes. Doesn’t make any sense to me.

Dodson did come in and miss a number of 3s against WVU which made me wonder why I hadn’t seen him the game before. Not surprised he wasn’t able to perform under those circumstances.

He did finally hit 2 3s in the last minute or so but too little to late.

Jodie Meeks would have made that team a legit title contender, but chose to forgo his senior year. We have not had great news since, except for a few who came back to help us win in 2012. We always are one or two down on the roster, and have come up considerably short since winning it all 11 years ago.
